STI won both drags against the WRX. Forgot to actually say who won. Sorry....

This is at least some good news for those of us who wouldn't be caught dead in a hot hatch.

It's sad that there are a significant number of people who have the money to buy an STI and want the added performance but won't buy one just because Subaru won't make them as a sedan anymore

Add me to that list. I finally get in a place where I feel I can actually afford an STI (not just "make the payments") and they redesign the Impreza where it doesn't look like a Matchbox car, and *poof* they only make the STI as a hatch.

*sigh* One lost sale here.

Now don't get me wrong, that WRX is a great car and looks good. Very fast as well. Is it in the same league as the STI? NO. I saw it with my own eyes.........Jackson Raceway in Jackson, South Carolina............
So the same driver was in both cars, right?

The standard tune on the STI does not help either, while the 09 tune looks more aggressive. As an example, see screen capture below - were the STI has negative 6% boost compensation on until 44Kph, the 09 has none. Its easy to tune these out, but this is how it comes stock.

We have both as well.... My wife drives the sedan with all the bells and wistles and I have an 08 STi. I prefer my STi but she still likes hers more. To each his own I guess.

For 10,000$ extra I sure would hope so... The question is... is it worth it? Probably not as much so as in previous years.

With the new model years' giving Subaru "record sales!" I highly doubt if they see this your way.

Like, "yeah, we sure shot ourselves in the foot by selling more cars than ever. We really shouldn't have made all this money."

If only they'd givin us our damn fender flares, even if performance wasn't up to snuff. But hey, if we like the look of the older cars, we're still allowed to buy them. It's not like '06 is an old car.

the tails on the wagons and sedans both suck balls the wagons look like big ricer tails i cant stand them!!

but i kinda do like the front of the WRX's/STi's, just the rear and the from the side it looks hidious almost like a mazda, and the new legacy's fronts look like a damn toyota..

get the guy who designed the 04-06 STi's and WRX's yeah the same guy who designed the Mclaren F'1s body style..

So can a DODGE RAM SRT10. That does not make it sporty looking. My point is that a 5 door hatch is not sporty. It may be a sports car, but it looks like a grocery getter
So what I get groceries in this, just get it done alot quicker!!! Here is a pic and a video of our 08 sti grocery getter... haha.... though maybe the car is not stock..... . I bought my 08 sti for about 33,500 fully loaded with bbs, navi etc... but that was in San Jose, Cali. First time I took it to the drag strip, completely stock, I only ran a 13.394 for my best 1/4 mile, reaction time .011, 60ft: 1.698. I could smell the clutch after that one run and only imagine it looked like this. My point being that the Car/Driver(and other magazines) 1/4, 0-60 times are only realistic if you do it all day, master it, are a pro, and don't mind breaking it.

P.S. Another main difference between the sti/wrx is the intake manifold, when you go up to stage3 the sti produces more hp than trq compared to the wrx, more trq then hp, .
