So I wanna mod my 2.5i and need some help
Let me preface this by saying my goal here is not to "be like a WRX/STI." I'm not looking to do an engine swap or throw a turbo on. My goal is to mod my 2011 2.5i hatchback to be more fun, more responsive and if possible more fuel efficient.
I recently took an new job that's going to have me driving a **** ton of miles and my old 2011 is still running well but with over 100k miles on it she's a little worn down. The company I work for pays .48 cents per mile traveled so again, my goal, is stretching that gas tank but still having something fun to drive. I'm looking at some mods and I know that the 2011 WRX/STI's are built on the same general platform as the 2.5i but I also know they are vastly different in a lot of ways. I need some pointers on what I can replace with compatible parts and what I cant. For example, Can I put coil-overs on it and tighten up the suspension or am I stuck to regular shock struts? Another big grey area is exhaust. I don't care about dual exhaust, from everything I can find modding a 2.5i to run dual exhaust basically negates any performance you get out of it because of added weight. I just want a better performance exhaust that will fit the '11 2.5i Anyone out there that has advice or guidance on this, I'd love to hear from you. NOTE: if your advice is "buy a wrx/sti" I don't need to hear from you. Not interested.
