Looks like it goes pretty good in the corners. Stays pretty flat?

One more pic of the wheels for now. Finishing up some new vinyl work over the next few weeks and then I can finally do a proper photoshoot.

With an entry point of $4400 its hard to bite , I would still go with a V10 EJ207 bottom end for under $3000 due to my low power targets.

If I was chasing big power, it would be extremely tempting.
Given that I'm going with all Tomei stuff for the head and a modest power goal on my rebuild engine, Tomei will do the full top and bottom end rebuild for about $7,000. That seems to the better choice for me personally.

Is this a package they sell outright or are they rebuilding your motor? Definitely pays to be in Japan for that no doubt.

They would be rebuilding my motor.
I have seen their engines pop up on Yahoo for well above that price, but usually they have stroker kits or bottom end work that I’m not interested in.

I'd be half tempted to grab a JDM 205 to swap the heads off of onto one of those to have an extremely stout AVCS 2L.

only way im ever buying a pre-built engine or buying parts to build one myself would be through Tomei or any other authentic japanese tuning company.
i wouldnt care about the difference in cost or added logistics.
theres no point, in my mind, to further the watering down of the culture that created these cars and so many other beautiful machines by tossing a stream of parts from the US just because of the cost difference.

The history of Subaru is entirely multicultural. Don't forget that it was a British team who made Subaru a household name, and it seems VT Sportscar is very much carrying that torch.

That there is something inherently wrong with an American performance supplier because they are American, or that every part down to the Oil crush washer needs to come from Japan to be a respectable use of one's resources is laughable. The level of performance of these cars has been raised dramatically thanks to many companies in the US over the past couple decades.

I’m not claiming that no one outside of Japan has done anything respectable with these cars or with any other Japanese cars. that’s not the point, nor is the ‘level of performance’ the point.
im not ****ting on anyone if they run some engine built by a tuning company in the US, I’m just saying it’s infinitely less cool to me and not something I’ll ever have interest in doing.

If it were only easy to find a used 207 long lock still in Japan to buy and send to tomei rather then ship a motor back.

Depo headlights, waxed with Collinite 845 a twice a year. They are a few years old. Had genuine jdm projectors but began having an issue with one of them. I prefer the simplicity of the halogens much better. Not crazy about aftermarket stuff, but so far, so good with these.

Watch out for weak connections on the Depos especially in the grounds and at the low beam bulbs on the halogens, and also at the blue 3 pin connector. If you start noticing flickering low beams pull them and check them over. My set cooked the low beam ground on both sides, and smoked/crazed one of the lenses. I'm not sure if it could have burned the car down, but definitely sketchy.

Good to know! I really dislike aftermarket parts for exactly reasons like this. I know the Depo projectors had all sorts of issues early on. Hoping most of them have been rectified.

Yeah, to be fair my set was from 2013-2014ish and this didn't happen until 2019. I have been using high efficacy +50 55W H1 bulbs as well.
