Thumbs down Central NJ Dealership - Credit Check before test drive

I considering getting another subaru after many years and not sure if to get a WRX or STI.

On Saturday went into a dealership for a test drive. Was told by the salesperson they "don't allow test drives of the WRX or STI because buyers don't like miles on them but if they run my credit and we agree on numbers first then I can test drive".

Is this now normal for subaru?

Discovered a few days ago, when negotiating an Internet Sale with Autonation Subaru Scottsdale, that they require the purchaser to provide proof of automobile insurance - not accepting the buyers documented insurance on presently owned automobiles, but a specific policy verification on the Subaru you do not even own yet, by VIN #, in order to complete the purchase. Never have ever heard of this requirement.........if the purchase, for whatever reason is terminated by either party, you have already bought insurance on something not owned. Crazy!
