Arrow Instagram Subaru Builds.

A cursory search didn't pull up a thread with this general goal, so here it is.

OG Subaru people who are still here, as NASIOC (and forums in general as a form of following builds) becomes less active, it's increasingly important to stay connected on things like Instagram.

I miss the early 2010s when this place was super active

The intent here is to have all of our feeds filled with OG builds, instead of every new stanced out hotboi the Gram thinks we need to be friends with

But, might as well start this thread now.

@jarharms
Mostly subaru related with some other stuff littered in. Yea I am also tired of the same BS subaru boi junk being IG suggested for the last year or so.

Sucks that it's all going IG which is all photo and no substance. But forums aren't what they used to be and aren't looking set for any comeback.

They just want followers so they can try to monetize. Next they will get paid to post and push products and other stuff on their followers.

I get it, nothing wrong with it, but I have no time to follow all these people. Last thing I need is more emails or notifications.

I'll stick with YouTube and what's left of forums for my interests.

But I don't do social media, I see no need and reallY don't care what all these people are doing. Yeah it sounds like a grumpy old man, got no issues with that.

If you have a business though it's a must.

Don't feel bad all you OG OGs, I'm old enough to have a five digit ICQ number, but am still transitioning to Instagram.. because frankly it's really the only place outside of a select handful of FB groups that house what's currently going on in the import world.

I'd take NASIOC every day of the week but, can't help but notice how quiet it's becoming here *shifty eyes*

Not an OG on here perse but an OG to forums in General. My gram is pretty much dedicated to my 3 builds.

Another OG here.

I've been using Instagram to document my GF8 resto-mod, mostly for myself, and find it easier to deal with than the forums. I miss the long-form comments and discussions, though. "Likes" just aren't the same. Take a peek if you like seeing a once clapped out Subaru getting a second lease on life.

@project_gf8

Cheers!

ICQ = just another social media thingy.
It's getting quieter because all the kiddies have grown up w/social media and that is all they know or understand.

I do miss the heyday of nasioc (for the most part). Might have been a little more drama then needed.

Facebook is popular but a complete mess IMO. Sketchy and dishonest crap all over the place.

Not a lot of depth on IG but it's mostly positive and friendly at least.

Funny how you grow up with something, like ICQ, mIRC, and AIM, and never really think about it as social media at the time.. just messaging services.

But yeah, you're right, all people know nowadays are the new things.

Haven't been posting much about my TA car lately, but there's good stuff to come. Plenty of MoTeC, Voltex, etc.

i've just been flexing my bugeye since 2nd owner ownership in 2005..

social media stuff is hard with a car like this since its not stanced, its not widebody, its not on bags and it only has factory-wang status, not big wangger.. I'm not antilagging or trolling my launch-control and for **** sakes im not even going to parking lot meets so ppl can wonder how the bugeye was supposed to look, stock?

There should be a #whathappened2daOGs thread... cuz.. i often wonder about that when im driving..

I had ICQ but 6 digit, 8654231, and then MSN.. **** i even had an asianavenue acct to exercise my macking skillz boiiiiiiii.

OG? there aren't any OG with subarus left i thought, INFEK and smurfy are the only others.. oh and Obsidian from: https://b-obsidian.com/

This is not even that bad.. i had a window of no kid stuff, no house stuff, and a great cool/calm weather evening and i couldn't even think of anyone else that still has a project car/old car/old mature owner to meet-up with. My buddy went to an evening s2k meet-up and outside of the 2 other 30+yr olds, it was a ****show of 20 somethings that somehow have s2ks, which really don't make much sense to me as if u live at home, how do u convince ur parents u need a summer car??? and then the meet turned into a bunch of frs/brz's with burble tunes.. BAIT.

At this point all us OGs typically just meet up at big regional meets... no local stuff. A lot of us have eachother on FB, and even have some internal group chats and whatnot, just easier

i use whatsapp msgr more than anything else and since it can manage group chats easier, i find its just the most accessible since i dodged FB pretty successfully for almost 15 yrs now.

IG has a messenger thing that i use occasionally but the spam potential is strong, from my experience.

i haven't taken my car to a subaru meet for at least 12 yrs.

I miss the old days as well...

I've been here a while and still always visit. I guess you could say NASIOC has been part of my daily life for almost 2 decades.
