What do you guys think?
Need some advice guys, I’ve been waiting on the new wrx and following this thread but I’m without a car in meantime. Friend knows someone who wants to sell me his wrx, specs are
16’ wrx premium, only mod he claims is tint and painted calipers, 62,000 miles, he is 2nd owner. Looks in decent shape but there are a couple concerning areas in paint, see below. What’s a good price? Was also possibly looking at gti or si in meantime, really want to buy the new model but can’t wait.

thats through the paint, so if you plan on keeping it more than a year or two, plan on repainting the car. it would really have to be dirt cheap for me to consider something like that on something thats not over 10 years old.

Yea I agree, that’s going to start ruining the surrounding area with rust. Needs to be repaired

That spot should be addressed, but to say the car will need repainted is a bit much. A good body shop could fix that relatively easy. So if it blue books correctly and you get a PPI, offer $1,000 less for paint work, Or find another car. However, a used wrx is a crap shoot so if you really want to get one used knowing the history and the previous owner would be a good senecio.

1. Don't ask us. We don't know where you live and what the pricing for similar cars in your are are 2. Make sure you get a pre-inspection prior to purchase 3. Have a reputable auto body shop look at the paint damage and tell you what it will cost to repair. |

The paint is easy to fix. Have you tried test driving it?

not yet, he lives couple hours away. He is the second owner, first owner had no accidents. He said he claimed on accident for a bend rim to get it replaced. That turns me off too, once you get an accident on it. Wonder if it shows on carfax or autocheck. |

You really don't know how either of the previous owners drove the car. That plays a bigger factor into things.

paint isnt that big of a deal, that can be re done, what you really want to look for is how the engine and trans is doing, that will be a huge expense if either of them are damaged. if you are looking for a inbetween car, why get something that would be mroe fun, if you are going to buy a wrx anyways?
