Default Rear Fog Light 2015 STI

Has anyone fitted the rear fog light to the 2015 STI yet? The opening looks the same as the outgoing model.

I'm curious about this too. Not sure if it's the same light or a new one.

I might just get the kit and see what happens. Can't do nothing till my STI gets delivered anyway.

How is the fake vent held in? Does it require cutting to remove or can it be popped out and the rear fog pushed in? Thanks.

How hard was the install? Did you have to remove bumper to get it wired up?

Why do the F1 cars light blink?

Also when whatching Top Gear UK, when Clarkston drives new Ferraris or other super/hyper cars.....it looks as if the rear tail lights have like a "pulse" to them, why is that?

not saying this is necessarily the explanation but many times LEDs have that effect on cameras, especially Audi lights. They flicker and the camera catches it, just like LED Christmas lights. I could be wrong.

F1 lights actually do blink. They're activated by the driver when there's poor weather/visibility.

The flickering look of the Ferrari tails on TG were an effect of the camera on the LEDs.

Ive seen ferraris with rain lights before im pretty sure a factory option. I also know many new cars comming out have them such as that new infinity with the gtr engine. I would either have it on a constant pulse when a switch is activated or pulsing while breaking when a switch is activated

I'm a prick.

You do not use a fog-lamp in place of either a parking lamp or a brake lamp. It is designed to illuminate rearwards in a specific fashion during adverse weather conditions.

By having it illuminated for a purpose other than as a rear fog-lamp, it will blind the driver behind you.

Also, having any rearward facing lamps pulsing (flashing or modulating) in a constant fashion while the vehicle in motion means you are signaling to other drivers behind you that there is a problem or issue with respect to you and/or your car and to take caution. By doing so, you can and very well may cause traffic behind you to slow down or even be the cause to an accident by another.

If you think this is fun or cool, then take it to a meet or an off-road / track event and show it off.

Further, any brake lamp other than the two regular side lamps must be above that horizontal plane. A 'fourth' brake lamp below this plane, such as the use of the rear fog-lamp position, is illegal.

Remember, I'm a prick. I really don't care if you break the law or not and think that this is funny. I just don't need to be blinded by such misuse. I have been by some idiot in my area that has done this same thing and thinks its cool.

I am however a proponent of using a modulator (pulse / flash module) with respect to the actual brake lamps as a means of additional signaling to a driver behind you.

If you do, you might not want a module that, while the brake pedal is engaged, to continue modulating the brake lamps. This may signal to anyone that you have an emergency or similar issue and may be illegal in some states. A module that modulates the lamps for a specified period and then allows the lamps to stay lit without further modulation is fine.

I agree, I just plan on using it as an extra reverse light.

Actually yes they do. LED lights flicker at a very high speed, too fast for human eyes to see. Some use Pulse Width Modulation and it's used to dim or intensify the output by pulsing the light. Most cameras film in the neighborhood of 20-30 frames per second and that picks it up and makes them look as if they are blinking.

Looks like it is sticking out a bit too far. Couldn't get it to go in anymore?

Looks like you didn't remove the bumper. Are there any clips/bolts holding it in? From the other forum, just a firm push n should wiggle out. Can you verify?

It will go in without any problem, im still workin on the bracket, the '15 uses the side of the lens as mounting compared to the GR uses the back of the lens as mounting point
