Default 2004 XT Engine Replacement Hours

How many hours should I expect to be billed for the replacement of an engine in a 2004 Forester XT?

Could have put this question in your other thread, but no one can answer this question because we don't know how much need replacing. If it is a old eng, bolt might be seized, cables and hoses might need replacement, and then im sure other problems will be found. So hard to say.

Labor-wise you can usually do an engine removal and replacement in less than 10-16 hours. If you actually do work to the engine while it is out, that would be more.

Sorry, I thought I was clear. I'm asking about the time required to remove the engine and replace it with another. No other work is being done to the engine because it is being replaced. I kept the questions separate to keep the answers less complicated and intertwined. Somewhere I saw mention of doing this in only a few hours?

Default Engine hours

It will depend on what parts need to be swapped from your old engine to the new one and whether gaskets are being replaced on your new engine. Around 10 hours should be fair for most cases. I pulled my last engine out in 1.5 hours.

RI time for an engine runs around 6-8hrs(roughly)
But does not include transfer of parts
So a used engine will need transfer of alternator/AC compressor/turbo(shop will ask for labor but not absolutely ness)/per steering pump/air box/starter/AC lines/rubber hoses/etc
Plus evac and recharge of AC (again not needed(hang compressor)but shop will want
So
7hrs RI time
4hrs transfer of parts
2hrs evac and recharge
Brings us in a range of 13 to 16hrs IMO
