Need some aesthetic help!
Today my front splitter paint started to chip, I took it off and planned to sand it down and paint it. I don’t want it to look too ‘Ricey’ or tacky, any suggestions?? Would red look bad? Picture for reference color of the car.

i myself would not like the splitter done in red, of course i dont care for the red mud flaps either. now the truth, it is your car, you do what you like to it, and dont worry about what others think. we may snicker when you go by, but it is yours and you are the only one who has to like it.

I think the red would actually look pretty good, though I’ve never seen splitters in any other color than black. Since the red would stand out so much I think you should add red accents to help tie the red theme together, red mud flaps nothwithstanding. Examples would be side skirt extensions, paint them red, maybe red mirror covers.
Conversely, from a purely practical standpoint, if you just did flat black it would hide a lot of imperfections (splitters can be pretty s***ted up being down low and upfront), and if you somehow picked up a scrape or chip you could just give it a quick spray and it would disappear. |

Gloss black to match the car with a red line (vinyl pinstripe tape) on the front bottom to match the accent line on the grill. Like they said above, do what you want. I like seeing what people do even if its not what I would do.

Decided to go with the red, I couldn’t find any pinstripe tape in my area so I went with dupli-colors red and clear coat and it doesn’t look as bad as I thought it would! It’s my car and I don’t care what other people think, I won’t change how it looks now but hey! Tell me whatcha guys think? |

I personally wouldn't repaint the lip red. Perhaps see if you can get it paint matched or even a rubber coating or plastidip black would look good. No need to put a lot of money into fixing the paint chips if it's your daily, I say.

I like the red though I might go with a different red or even the caliper paint. Did you use the enamel or wrap?

I think I spent $15 in paint or something and if you look closely you can see the tiny chips and imperfections I’m not worried about it though it’s the lowest part of the car come next summer I might repaint it anyways from scraping driveways and what not. |

I could’ve done that but I suck at vinyl work, plus if I want to change it it’s just paint so it’s not really permanent but I see whatcha mean, I did get a can of black that sorta matches might go back to black after winter, I’m sure winter will take it’s toll if I don’t take the splitter off! |
