Default any web developers here? css, layers, and other questions..

i am putting together a small classified website for my town, similiar to that of craigslist,..

is it ok to use css and layers for a website? im not sure what is ok in design these days or what gives the most problems..

can i purchase 1 account of webspace from like dreamhost, but have multiple websites with each having its own domain name on 1 account?

thanks

css is HIGHLY recommended. I've personally never been a fan of layers, but I do see them used.

I don't know how dreamhost works, but I'd imagine you can run multiple websites from 1 account if you have it routed properly.

layers are depreciated and not really referred to anymore as such.

Its all css.

The idea of layers are still relevent but the <layer> tag isn't used.

i am noob when it comes to websites, but if i was to design a nice smooth layout, i thought i would create layers and drag them to wherever i would like, and then add css to that layer to customize the appearance.

i know frames are no good...

You've lost me.

Drag layers to where you want?

What layers?

like if i was to make a site just like craigslist, but without using tables, i would use layers right? like where i would like to position sections of information of classifieds, topics, etc...?

Ok, a layer in Dreamweaver.

That just represents a table or div or whatever else dreamweaver wants to use to code the content you are adding.

If you are using dreamweaver for all of the coding I wouldn't worry much about the code behind it.

Dreamweaver is pretty up to date with compliancy and should be using the best practice methods.
