We've got an array of cameras and lenses here that definitely rivals that. Too bad they're all monochrome.

Canon seems to have a strong grasp on the sports and PJ market right now. In any case, I don't plan on switching from Nikon to Canon.

From the looks of it, the up-close shots has to be taken from another photojournalist nearby. So it would most likely be taken with a digital SLR. So I would assume it to be one of the following models

Nikon D2h, D1x, or D1h
Canon 1DMK2, 1D, or 1Ds

The ones of the shots of the PJ box could be taken from anyone sitting near them.

Someone should have duct taped a disposable camera on there with all them. That would have been funny.

They were taking photos of the 100M track finals.. important that they capture that crucial shot.. if they went back to their editor with nothing, heads would roll.

They basically set up RF receivers on all of the cameras and had them all remotely fire at their 9fps rate. The shutters clicking when the sprinter crosses the finish line must be insane.

[NASIOC SNOB MODE ENGAGED]

Those suck compared to my Digital Vellos Z0-2000 35.4. My camera has a lense ground to within 0.00001". The lens was shipped here from Austria on a sailboat (important that the lens isn't shipped on a diesel powered boat or it's an inferior lens) in the carcass of a baby fur seal.

Man. and I thought i had a good quiver.

My arsenal:

2 10D, EOS 3, A2E

50mm f/1.4
17-40 f/4L
70-200 f/2.8L IS
100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS
300 f/2.8L IS (discont. model.)

I'm considering putting a pre-order on a 20D so I can fit the new 10mm EF-S lens on it, or pick up an used 1D. 5fps ain't half bad either, i'll swap one of my 10D bodies for it. I don't really care about the 8mp that it offers - output is king over mp.

I shoot motorsports for small media outlets, but it'd be nice to shoot for a service someday if i have time.

If they're Canon 10Ds then they only fire at 3fps.

I can't tell from the pic but I think they are 1Ds. 9fps is the rate for the 1D I'm guessing?

These are NOT 10D's. They're all 1D's/1D Mark II's, and maybe a few 11mp 1Ds's.. the 1Ds isn't very good for sports photography because of the sheer size of its files and the continous drive frame rate of about 3fps.

Yes, the frame rate on continuous drive for a 1D is 8-9 FPS.
