Lightbulb OT: Why are ae86's popular but not other rwd's???

Nino's post led me to thinking why is the ae86 corolla so popular and worth so much? Big money to redo em right? Is it all cause of the initial D cartoon???Sure its fun to drive fairly light and handles. Doesn't the 85 and older celicas fit that bill too? I know japan didn't have the gts celica. Celica's have abulletproof setup with hard core 22re used til 95 in the trucks? Supra's are popular but no cressida's or other celica's? Very odd celica gts=rwd supra brakes disc independant suspension supra interor and close front rear distribution and stock 225/60/14 tires? corolla's always are wearing the baby supra wheels. How about some fo the old 80's nissan same thing. I guess the sticker was right (its a corolla thing you woudn't understand)

Scott

ps i love my 84 celica orig owner GTS

sounds like the first gen rx7 as well and the celica gts well that has everything but the dohc motor but the 85 has 110hr 140tq (87-88 4runner had a 22re turbo option nice swap there) no slouch but independant rear corolla is solid right so more sliding less handling? SO far i still think its the cartoon. In motor trend issue in 85 they had the 280z vs supra vs rx7 the best of the best issue and the supra came out top. saw that on www.celicasupra.com

Go to Passaic, NJ and they'll tell you becuz it looks good on 13" rims and slammed to the ground on cut coils, with a Puerto Rican full windsheild width inside rearview mirror. I can laugh since my uncles used do that all the time, too.
