![]() What do you iRacing guys use for clutch/shift?
Auto clutch, auto blip? I’m using that auto so far with the paddle shifters. I’m a little confused on how to start a standing start with no clutch. I currently just floor it and shift at green to 1. |

![]() It's kinda car dependent in Iracing which clutch setting I'm using.
mostly if it's a full paddle shift thing I'll have it in auto clutch or auto blip. If it's a h-pattern I'll have the auto/blips turned off as the auto clutch causes a couple milliseconds of delay in the clutch engagement. it's a pretty decent speed difference when you've got an auto clutch vs full manual drag race. |

![]() Trying to practice for the Iracing Fuji 8hour but I am being defeated by this track and can't comprehend how cars will survive side by side. It's gonna be heartbreak..
Race is on the 11th.. I still don't manage to put together 2 clean laps in a row. The track is just kinda unenjoyable and mostly a lot of work because of the excessive sharp corners. Daytona 24 Hour is next after Fuji.. that's one I'll look forward, have finished it once in the past. |

So what are some iracing names? James Helbling #475766 I don't official race anymore like I should be.. usually just kinda focused on whatever the weekly league is doing + any endurance practices. gonna try and be more official over the winter and get back into it. |

![]() Car dependent on launching but I am auto-blip for everything. For launching, if the car has traction control (FF, F4, GT4, GT3, etc) then just a redline neutral drop. For the Vee I go to about 6200 and neutral drop for about 1s then lift and shift. I have had a lot of mis shifts in the Vee so lifting the throttle (still let it auto clutch) prevents that.

![]() We are racing the Radical SR8 in league.. it's just a stationary smoke generator trying to launch the thing.
But with auto clutch turned on.. just plop it in gear, full rev.. full brakes.. and just release brakes on green to immediately pass 3-4 cars with no drama. some other cars will launch like that as well. the other trick I need to figure out is the secondary clutch/bite point adjustment so I can have try a two stage release. But really the fullgas/fullbrake launch is pretty effective and the dual clutch still leaves lots of ability for me to screw the timing up. |

![]() Gearing up for black Friday -
Thinking about upgrading wheel/pedals. What’s the best for somewhere around $500-750? |

![]() I have the feeling fanatec is going to go pretty hard on blackfriday..
not that I recall them going hard in the past, but they've finally been trying to price competitively in the past year due to Moza showing on the scene. $500 today would already put you in a CSL 8nm DD bundle.. +140 to add the brake load cell +40 for a third pedal (clutch) That's not toooo shabby already. Moza is already pushing some sales to respond to Fanatec price cutting. not a bad time to be shopping for sure. |

![]() Currently in the market still. I had a setup planned out for Moza but man it can get really expensive when you want a good pedal setup. Would the brake load cell (+140) be better than the ones that come with the bundles?
Originally I had planned getting Moza R12 with CRP Pedals but now I am looking at ~$1200 |

![]() A load cell pedal makes all the difference. If you don't get one with whatever setup you end up buying, make that your first upgrade. Well, second if you are not purchasing a good solid wheelstand or cockpit.

![]() yeah, a load cell upgrade would be better than any Hall Effect switch type pedal even if you have to retrofit it.
just a pity it's not available as a initially fit thing on the bundle pedals.. but then they can't charge you $140 again. At least you can get the csl-dd wheel in the 8nm trim without getting double dipped on power supplies. Last edited by Fish; 11-02-2023 at 05:52 PM. |

Per my other question, do I even need a clutch? I don’t think I need a shifter that’s for sure. |

![]() If you have a h-pattern then yes.
Personally I’d just say yes to three pedals. It’s not heavily used but is still useful in nearly all cars and helps the immersion Sent from my iPhone using NASIOC |

![]() Man tonight two races in a row I’m up in the top 3 and get punted then have damage. Super annoying. Is this just a D/Rookies thing? I guess I’m expecting too much from other people.

![]() There are the "rookie miata" series and you just need to get yourself clear of that.. But I think when you c-class you'll lose the rookie miata series and it'll just be ..miata series which will help the quality of driver.
just chip away and get your rating up and that'll get you in to better racing splits with drivers who have a clue. but down at the 1.2-1.4K area you're racing some day one type peoples. |

![]() One of the races was rookie Miata. Was perfectly pit maneuvered into a wall after a clean pass following their mistake. I followed for 3 laps waiting for a good opportunity to pass clean. And of course terrible damage requiring a tow/repair.

![]() Yeah license class helps a little but it's really which split and iracing range you get in. I still race Vee and FF a lot which are rookie races but i'm always top split with my ~2600 rating. I am usually surrounded by A and B class drivers which is nice.
