you want a really immersive experience.. give hkerekes your sim budget and he'll strap you into a Crown Vic that identifies as a racecar.

It's on my todo list..

nah.. a fast sim racer is a fast racer IRL..
get that sim and get gud..
then go racing!

Yeah I don't have the space right now for trips. I will soon and will be setting that up. VR will be for open wheel racing because it's just so damn immersive but all other racing (ovals, GT3, etc) will happen on the trips. It's hard in VR to do anything but race.

The precision it gives for braking and of course steering is a very worthy upgrade. Just takes up more space.
When I was looking for mounts for my joysticks I priced out making my own out of 80/20. Even though I have the items to cut and fabricate them the cost on my time vs. buying from Predator mounts made it not worth it. I looked over there site, they seem to have some decent prices for what they are offering. Plus the units look pretty beefy on their connecting hardware. Thanks for the link.

https://www.tnutz.com/

this is where I sourced my aluminum, they'll cut it however you want and sell all the brackets and things to get stuff done.

The triple brackets I used are these.
https://www.ricmotech.com/monitor-an...80-20-aluminum

Sim-lab is a good source for bracketry as well, I used them for the shifter mount plate and the DD wheel mount plates.

I could totally see triples working great for a track with traffic. But all the best drivers are the ones who can race on a surface that's changing all the time... Rally. And that's where VR shines

ps... I'm totally jealous of your triples and actual seats and stuff. My seat is from Ikea on a hardwood floor, sometimes it moves under heavy braking

old shoes on the feet/wheels. worked wonders for me years ago, and that was using the stock brake setup on a g25.

Not a bad idea. I was gonna get some of that rug padding stuff and make a little square for it. Oh, and I'm totally using a G25 bone stock. I did pretty well in the Dirt Rally League, so I think it's not always totally all about the gear. But VR helped with rally quite a lot, so maybe it was that.

imp you been playing the new forza at all? i spent more time trying to fix the ffb in f7 than playing and never got it to a good point (see DR/AC/RBR). it just feels like i've got gravel in the wheel base. haven't dug around too much since the new one dropped to see if anyone came up with a fix, but considering its an evolution of the engine i'm not too hopeful.

edit DR in VR would be awesome, last time i tried was just after i got a rift and everytime i plugged my g25 in it'd kill ALL usb requiring a hard reboot. but it was a q77(?) intel mobo that was out before the usb 3.0 standard came out, if i remember correctly.

I haven’t had much time to do iRacing yet but got D class for road racing. Getting the hang of the formula Vee and 1600’s.

Deleted forza its just not good driving in comparison.

I had rbr on a CD in college. Best rally game ever. The driving school section actually taught you how to drive. It was amazing.

Need to get on that load cell brake game.. it's the one piece of gear that can really make a significant difference. the G25 can be modded to have one, but the kit is like 40% what you'd spend on a new setup with a load cell brake.

Here is the source for all your modded RBR goodness.
https://www.rallysimfans.hu/rbr/download.php

lots of mods opened up useable multiplayer and it's still quite active.

How about building a sim racer INSIDE a Crown Vic?

I just pulled the shifter and handbrake off my Next Level Racing Wheel Stand DD. Pretty sure I'm putting them on FB Marketplace this weekend. They are awesome to use, but I find myself using the flappy paddles for pretty much everything, and honestly removing them has been a QoL improvement with getting in and out of my setup that has me using it more.

I really should use a sim setup to learn the tracks better. Im not good enough to be fast anywhere in a few laps like some drivers.

To be honest, there is enough room.

I'm a slow track learner so it's been instrumental for me going on track.

Thompson CT isn't represented in any sim, and trying to learn that while hot wheel to wheel was.. not effective.

I was relieved to be back at NHMS for the 14 hour this past weekend, because I have SO many sim laps and it shows on track

Before going to Atlanta Motorsports Park to do Karting I bought KartKraft and put a few hours in on the rig. I was soo much faster and more comfortable going out at full speed after having the rig time.

It's a huge advantage.
When Covid hit I got back on my old logitech rig and started in a iracing league with the regional track/time trial club.

Been pretty obvious improvement in real life results for everyone that puts in the sim time.

It helped me a lot as well as spending time simming with some qualified people to learn racecraft from.. 1 year later I joined a 24 Hours of Lemons team and have been successful! There has been a big influx of the sim league into the 24h of lemons lately as well, league represented drivers in 5 teams racing last weekend.

they say "sims are cheaper than racing" unless it's part of what drove you to start racing...

That was the year before I began racing with my team, The Boston Whiners.

Our team/cars shows up quite a bit in the doc, most visible would be the white/green Haterade E30. other was a Red/white e30.

I have been wanting both of those items but can't justify spending hundreds for something ill use 1% of the time lol.
