Yeah, probably a prank, but I couldn't condemn a cursory investigation by the authorities as pussification.

Once the spreader bar is no longer a factor they're no more difficult to undo than a belt buckle, and the dangling spreader bar is going to be enough of a trip hazard to warrant making sure you get at least that one cuff off before you make it to the second doorbell.

This is a subject that I highly advise in-depth study of.

The boyfriend of a woman captured on night-vision video ringing a doorbell in the middle of the night while partially-clothed and wearing broken wrist restrains has been found dead, according to police.

The woman herself, 32, has been found safe, according to Texas authorities, after footage surfaced of the "suspicious" incident in Sunrise Ranch, Montgomery.

She is staying with family in another state, said Lieutenant Scott Spencer of Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

He added that officers had found her 49-year-old boyfriend dead on Wednesday morning at a house in an area 46 miles north of Houston.

Mr Spencer said the man had made suicidal comments in a call to the sheriff's office and had died of a gunshot wound.

Investigators determined that his girlfriend was the barefoot young woman seen in a nearby resident's security video ringing the doorbell early on Friday while wearing a T-shirt and wrist restraints.

"The look on her face, but she was being very very quiet. She just looked distressed," one neighbour who saw the footage told ABC News.

Mr Spencer said her identity is being withheld for now as a victim of domestic violence.

Pennsylvania man admits cutting girlfriend's brake line to make crack pipe

SCRANTON, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- State police now say a deadly crash in Pennsylvania was a homicide.

According to troopers, John Jenkins, 39, admitted to cutting the brake lines of Tammy Fox's car last week.

Fox, 38, was killed when her car hit parked cars and then slammed into a tree on August 22.

Jenkins reportedly said he tampered with his girlfriend's car the day before she died.

According to court papers, Jenkins and Fox were together the night before the crash and he said Fox was "driving him crazy" over a pipe to smoke crack.

"I just never bought that it was just an accident," said Lisa Vargas, a friend of the victim. "I knew it in my heart and I just want justice for her, I really do."

Vargas and Fox were friends for more than two decades. Vargas says she hadn't met Jenkins, but had a bad feeling about him.

Jenkins reportedly said he has no knowledge of cars, but, "cut anything from underneath the vehicle that could be used to smoke crack."

Fox's friends don't buy that logic.

"I mean, can't you find something else around your house to smoke crack in? Aluminum foil? Something else. I'm pretty sure if you're a career crackhead you can find something else besides a brake line to smoke crack in," Vargas said to WNEP-TV.

Jenkins was being held without bail.

Cynical is a fair assessment.

Either way, if she wanted help she would've waited for someone to open the door. If she wanted to hurt someone she would've waited for someone to open the door. Who knows.

This happened in Olympia and people were freaked out too. People do weird ****.

What looked like a scary kidnapping of three people in Olympia Wednesday night turned out to be an elaborate prank, Washington State Patrol investigators said.

The prank, planned three weeks in advance, involved six members of a family and two family friends investigators said. They targeted the youngest in the family, ages 11 and 15. Investigators say the pranksters wanted to scare the youngsters by turning a scavenger hunt into an 'escape room-style kidnapping.'

A 17-year-old lead the younger kids to Heritage Park about 10:30 p.m. where they were jumped by six adults, ages 20 to 28, dressed in plastic jump suits and hoods. The prank victims were restrained with zip ties and loaded into a pickup truck. WSP released surveillance video of the truck fleeing the scene.

One of the pranksters tipped off investigators who then unraveled the story quickly.

No one was hurt.

Investigators say the family thought it would be fun and didn't think there would be any serious repercussions. The case will be turned over to Thurston County prosecutors to consider charges.

Troopers said they had to treat the case as real until they were absolutely sure it wasn't, "especially when we have a child involved," said Sgt. James Prouty with the Washington State Patrol.
