I was talking to someone who is catholic about why they had issues with premarital sex with their fiancee. He said it is a sin in the eyes of the lord. I told him that his religion is outdated. He then told me that they recently had a ruling that there is no longer a limbo or some **** because the pope deemed it so. I said wait wait wait.. So, you are telling me if the pope said tomorrow that premarital sex is no longer a sin, it wouldn't be a sin anymore? He tried to beat around the bush about it saying that it would never happen, blah blah blah. But when it came down to it, yes if the pope said tomorrow that premarital sex is no longer a sin then it wouldn't be a sin. But, he has to sit on some throne and think about it and talk to baby jesus or whatever to make sure that is what jesus wants. So, in reality, other men (who are out of their ****ing minds because they don't have sex, or have sex with little boys) are the moral compass for catholics. It absolutely boggles my mind.

See that's what cracks me up about religious types. They refuse to admit that their beliefs are based on the decisions of men, not some big guy in the sky. Popes and religious leaders have been writing the rules for hundreds of years so that it suits their wishes, needs, and beliefs. It's all so silly.

You see, the thing about true religion, in my particular case Christianity, God never changes. Only people manipulate His truths and scripture.

But how do you know yours is the 'true' one over the other, much, much, old ones? Not trying to be a dick, but just understand why you think yours is the right one over the others who think theirs is the right one?

I never said my God is the right one for everybody. I believe He is for me and nothing else. Does this mean I don't pray for other people believing other things, no. Do I push my beliefs on others or judge them based on what they choose to believe or do with their life, nope.

Humans heads will explode if god speaks to them directly so that's why there is a pope. The pope's head doesn't explode when god speaks directly to him because he's not human. The hat is the key.

Makes perfect sense right?

I don't have a huge problem with this despite thinking its dumb. (side note: I am pretty sure I onced beaned a girl in a baseball game. I hit a lot of people because I had a nasty knuckle curve that required I throw it HARD at your face and it would drop in for a strike. Problem is that it would occasionally hang and destroy people. Plus side was the great personal glory of a called strike with the batter diving for cover.)

Deprive yourself of whatever you'd like for your faith... Sex, booze, abortion, certain foods, or in this case a championship, just don't deprive everyone else. I'd be far more upset if they tried to force her not to play opposed to bowing out.

Question then, if one was to steal the hat could one talk to God?

I'm sure I've told this story before, but whatever, I'm old and I ramble like Grandpa Simpson.

Anyway... When I was a kid I was in religion class and the teacher drew a series of concentric circles on the board. He put a dot in the middle.

He explained the drawing: The dot was God, and the first circle was Christianity, the 2nd was Judaism, the third was... I don't remember.

Anyway, I raised my hand and I said "So how do you think a Buddhist would draw that diagram?"

So the point of this story is that yes, I guess I'm just as much of an jerk in real life.

I was searching for a Cardinals baseball hat on eBay and came across a catholic cardinal's pointy hat. It was incredibly tempting to buy.

Dave: all three religions view God(s) as an entity, correct? So it works I think. I was also the snotty teenager that took a religion course. I just enjoy the Devil's advocate position. It's almost as fun to mess with non-believers as it is believers.

But you did say that your religion was the one 'true' religion which would insinuate that you believe all of the others are wrong. Besides, stating that your God isn't right for everybody would suggest that you accept the idea of alternate deities for others to worship thus going against pretty much everything Christian. I r confused.

Some people are born to go to hell, because even though god creates all men equally, those guys just aren't good enough.

No. You have to have men vote for you to wear the hat in order for it to work. Kinda like password protect.
