Okay so lets say you can precisely estimate wheel rotation speed, can you imagine the freaking math behind programming a crapload of LEDs to display an image??

If this is real the wheels would have to have batteries and wireless connections to the PC.. So I could take my laptop, hack into the guy's wheels and display whatever I wanted. Hmmm..

Hmm okay it's real, they start at $12,000 for 19"s and go to $19,000 for a set of 26"s.

Oh and these guys say they power themselves off your car battery.. I'd be really curious to see how they worked it out.

The other issue with these is that they are illegal pretty much everywhere.

I admire the ingenuity and technology behind it, but the application is... stupid.

actually the math isn't all that bad... just repetative... hell i have a spin top toy that does the same thing with less LED's... i bet they don't work all that good at low speed... notice how they only really got shots of them while they were on the freeway?

lol, they look annoying as hell to... who would write a damn message on their wheels for somebody to read anyway!?! you write, "i love you!" on your wheels and the intended person can only see it for a split second as you drive by...

i am curious as to how they power it through the battery though... easiest way would be an insulated ring on the wheel then a brush(es?) just like an electric motor... thats how i'd do it... don't know how reliable it'd be... perhaps near the centre of the wheel close to the hub...?
