I shot an 88 on Saturday. Not sure why I drove it so poorly with driver most of the day, but it could just be my local course has got in my head. I had a birdie on #1 and parred the stroke index 1 par 4 but otherwise, not much to write home about.

I came home and the "new" driver arrived so I took it to the range yesterday. The Epic MAX LS with the 65g Tensei shaft from my Rogue felt great. It feels a little more forgiving than the Rogue, so it's probably going in the bag but I'll keep the Rogue just in case.

I threw some car wax on top of the crown to buff out some minor scratches but overall, it's in super good condition for $140.

I'm playing this Troon course on Saturday for the 1st time, so I hope the driver is as good on course as it was on the range.

Welp, went in for a fitting and came out with a Qi 35 LS. Picked up about 7mph in ball speed and dropped 1200rpm off my old setup. Which was obviously spinning too much. Now to take it to the course.

Nice. Keep me posted on how you get along with it.

Also, don't use the plastic tees with the carbon face or it voids the warranty.

Wat? Got a link to that? Because that's not listed on the TM warranty page.

Wow, that's a big improvement. Nice.

I went to buy tees and checked to make sure they were wood at the counter. The shop employee at Golf Mart is the one that told me about TM drivers and how using plastic tees delaminates the face and voids the warrantee on their drivers. I don't play TM drivers, so I just took his word for it.

The guy said the hard plastic "PTS" tees delaminate the face over time. He may have been wrong and it's a rumor but I am sure he sees them being returned which is why he asked me what driver I play.

I believe it. I've warrantied at least 2 TM drivers over the years when the face and carbon top start to separate. Hopefully that is fixed now that the whole thing is composite from what I can tell?

I just love the shape and feel too much to switch at this point.

I had the M1, M4, SIM and SIM 2. Then they went to carbon face and I just wasn't into it. The Stealth/2 seem to have been their best performing drivers according to Mygolfspy, so I started playing Callaway since I wouldn't buy a used plastic faced driver versus a metal face.

I get it though. It's hard to change driver brands and I feel it's the one club in the bag that I have yet to dial in which is why I have tried so many. I have had the same irons and wedges for a while now and feel they don't need changing out.

I went and played that new course today. Native Oaks, about an hour outside of downtown San Diego. Got there early and enjoyed the range with free Trackman on each bay as well as a nice putting green. With the recent rains we had, the course was in awesome shape and greens were probably rolling 8-9 which I like. It's a challenging course with a lot of course management style par 4s. Water and lots of bunkering. I highly recommend it if you are visiting San Diego. $100 with a cart if you pre-pay on their site.

I made a birdie on 1st and played well/stayed even through 6 but then a bogey on 7 and double on par 3 8th. I just couldn't hit the easy par 3s from the white tees but did manage a nice up and down. Wedges inside 100 were mostly good with one thin shot that flew into a back bunker from 100 yards.

Back 9 went well with a double and mostly pars and another bird on a challenging par 5 with a tucked pin. I blew up 18 like a terrorist. Pulled my tee shot into a penalty area, blocked my next shot into another penalty area, but then made a sand save for triple.

Overall, a solid 83 from the white tees. I could definitely play the blue tees there but I didn't know the course and everyone in the group was playing whites, so I went with the flow. There are a lot of blind shots where you can't see the fairway, so it was a good call. Can't wait to go back and play there again.

I'm loving the Epic MAX LS. It wasn't a driver on every par 4 kind of course, but I hit some great drives (probably 250 average) except on 18 which was a mega pull onto the 1st fairway. No driver is going to fix my pull miss.

What a weekend! My brother came to town and we played yesterday at the local track. Started off well and was three over thru 5. Then, I got hit in the upper back with a ball waiting for the 6th tee. Luckily the guy only hit an 8 iron and I think the tree next to me slowed the ball down but it stunned me and I just sat down. Guy was apologetic but was kind of douchey about it at the same time so it pissed me off. I just got over a cold too, so I was super tired so it was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back. That derailed my round for a few holes but was able to keep playing and luckily I'll be fine. On the 12th, I stuck a 165 yard approach to a foot, so that felt great.

I watched most of The Masters and rooted for Rory the entire time. What a rollercoaster Sunday! One golfer's Masters win is another golfer's breaking 90, 80, or 70. Gotta appreciate the immense effort and amount of s**t he's taken to finally get it done.

Playing Torrey North on Friday and my swing is feeling good. I just need to get more rest leading up to the round.

While I didn't pick Rory (always wanted it to be his White Whale), I'm happy that he got the win. He played that course the best and it shows he knows his way around it. When to take a chance and when not to. That, and the media can finally SHUT IT about him getting the grand slam.

Friday league started, 1st round out had me with a lost ball off the tee over the wall to the right on the 1st hole, short par 4, and I was laying up with a 5i, just too relaxed a swing and opened face. Whoops. And a punch out from a wall, still shooting a 40. Just 2 errant shots I'd like back. Thursday league starts this coming thursday which will be fun. Can't wait to get that all started.

What a rollercoaster of drama and emotion that back 9 was yesterday. Rory hit 2 of the worst approach shots and then 2 of the best approaches imaginable. Crazy, and pretty much sums up golf. Glad he won. Fun to watch.

1st round of thursday league, my partner and I took 13.5pts to their 4.5pts. I shot a 39 with a "PBFU" double on the 2nd hole since I birdied the 1st. Just steady kept the ball in play, got on most greens, or had a chip and was close to keep par or the bogey on the 185yd uphill par 3, and bogey on 9 because I was just wide right and couldn't get up and down for the par.

Went back out on the front 9 again (back is too wet to allow carts and one of the guys playing had a cart) and shot 38, again with a double on 2, bogey again 8 and this time a birdie on the par 5 4th hole.

Pretty steady. Put the score in GHIN and I dropped 1 whole stroke. 9.8 to 8.8. And the season is just starting.

Everything was working, I was swinging pretty well. Some of that has to do with temps being in the high to mid 50s (thats warm here, very light athletic "golf" hoodie and long pants). Today should be the same weather for the Friday league, but saturday? *giddy* Tee off at Lake of Isles at 9:30am (60*) and will get up to almost 73 by the time I'm done. Shorts weather!

Hopefully the mojo keeps up through the weekend and to next weekend when I'm back down in Hilton Head.

Hells yeah!

Only 6 hours until my tee time. I can never seem to sleep in on my days off no matter the tee time. I'll probably get there 90 minutes early and warm up and enjoy the view.

Had a great round at Torrey. 82 with three birdies on the front but the back kind of got away from me a little with a triple on 18th. My pitching within 50 yards was great. I put two pitches to a few feet on the par 5s to make birdie. I was driving the ball well and caught myself getting quick at the top on a few bad shots so once I corrected that, I was striking it well. It really could have been a 75-77. Left a couple of putts an inch short and went bunker to bunker on the 18th. Overall, super happy to tie my personal best at Torrey.
