Big three kit. Ground kit. OTL coil install. Factory air intake put back in. But the hood doesn’t like to close well with it. Anyone have experience with that?

today I replaced my leaking passenger side cv axel. I purchased my new cv axel at advance discount auto. The heavy duty cv axel was the most expensive axel they sold at $140 and looks visually different from my OEM original. do you think running two different axels will be an issue? thanks

Didn't touch it. Yesterday I bought a new radiator, because the end tank blew.

Putting the 3.0 back together.
The kid was "helping" me out in the shop, working on an art project. He distracted me while putting cam caps in the thing. Everything was within spec except one. Pulled that one and the one next to it and swapped, and we're back in action.

Got the 3.0 back in the car, it needs a heater core I suspect. I can smell coolant now, whereas I bought the thing with a hole in the radiator and filled it with straight water when I put the new radiator in. I noticed the first time I drove it after getting the engine in that the defrost wasn't working so well, but I couldn't smell anything (yay covid) so a week later my sniffer was working more normally and I could definitely smell the coolant (on recirc).

Anyway, I pulled the 96 in, swapped out an axle that was clicking, a galled wheel stud, and put new sway bar end links on. Now it's time to clean it and sell it.

Which 3.0 are you working on, phase I or II? Is it a swap?

I picked up an 05 Outback 3.0R last summer from a buddy's sister, she was the original owner. At about 127k the radiator popped, she took it to Terry's, they quoted her almost $4k for radiator and head gaskets, so she wanted to sell it. I offered to take a look and see if I could get it fixed (much) cheaper, she just was ready for a new car after 15 years.
So I bought it, threw a radiator in it, put a couple thousand miles on it, then pulled and resealed the engine, found the heater core leaking - not enough to drip, but enough that I could smell it and defrost was having a hard time. When I pulled the dash apart I found the dealership did a hack job on the air bag recall, stuff not put together right, so I fixed it the right way and got rid of all the rattles they caused, and hooked the ambient (interior) air temp sensor that wasn't working properly.

And then I ran USB cables for my dash cam and phone charger/holder.

Aaaand then I replaced the lower control arm rear bushing, hub bearing, ball joint, and sway bar end link on the driver's side. No more clunks. Still need to work on the right side.

Today I went to the pick n pull and grabbed a new auto dimming mirror, hook for the trunk floor, and dash end cap that the dealer broke.

If you ever need engine rebuild parts, I have a torn down EZ30R with less than 1000 miles on it (rings went bad after the cylinders were washed with fuel). Was planning to replace the rings and reassemble, but think I'm going to move in a different direction with my project. Just about everything (aside from the rings) is minty fresh.

Lol, I hope I never do.

But those things disappear quickly from the pick n pull.
