The Tribeca has the newer suspension design but kept the old rotor off set. That is why the 08 rear caliper had to be machined to fit.

Makes sense, but aside from removing 40% of the thickness of the mounting flange, how else could I get a rear Brembo on this thing?

Not a must as I'll just color the factory rears to match whichever fronts I put on... but I'd love to find a way to make this work!

Thinking it through, I guess with Subaru "combining" the new with the old... it's likely the only application like this and I am thinking machining the flange is pretty much the only answer, if you consider that an answer. Ugh.

Might be possible to use an 05-07 sti rotor with 08-17 rear calipers without needing to do anything else. But probably not. That i think would imply you could do the same with any other older Subaru.

Super weird question: Will '08+ rear brembos bolt up to '04 STI rear knuckles? Is there any difference in the caliper position or rotor offset? I know the fronts will work and the drill pattern has to be 5x100...

I ask because I've got JDM 4-pots on my USDM '04 STI knuckles and would like to go back to brembos, but I don't have the originals.

It doesn't work. Find some gold rears.

Got it. Thanks!

What makes them incompatible. Is it the bolt pattern, offset, etc?

Offset is different on 08+
I'd like to find a way to make a bracket for them to fit. Would be nice to have the larger piston size they have. But I don't have a set to play around with to figure anything out.

There are too many obstacles. Bolt spacing, offset, caliper tab thickness.

You can make it happen if you are determined enough and have machine shop access but it's not even close to worth it and you sacrifice integrity of the parts.

I seemed to have misplaced my rear 07 STI Brembos I had for a swap on my 2012 WRX. Can I use a set of 08-14 STI rears with my 07 STI front Brembos?? Will this effect braking bias at all because of the bigger piston used on the newer rear calipers vs the older, or not because the front calipers are basically unchanged from 04-14??

All 4pot fronts from 04-17 are the same. 04-07 rears work on 02-07. 08+ rears work on all 08+. 08+ will not work with 02-07. And I'm not sure if the 04-07 rears will work with 08+ but I don't think they will since the offset is different.

There are adapters to put the 04-07 brembos and subaru 2-pots on the rear of the 08+ wrx.

However, using the 08-17 rears will work better as they bolt right on to the stock uprights.

IMO the bias is kind of odd and pretty far forward with the 04-07 brembos. EBD does make small changes fairly less relevant though as all the cars that use these different brakes have the same basic hydraulic system and it's the abs/ebd that controls bias based on wheel speeds.

I ended up going with a set of 08-14 rears and a pair of 07 STI golds for the front ( already being rebuilt / powder coated ). I figured it'll be easier to go with the later model rear calipers being that my car is a 2012.

What rotors did you go with?
