![]() I pretty much felt this way all along, but the last Good Eats that I watched was all about salt. Very interesting show where Alton went into what salts are best for what, how it's mined, etc. At any rate, he said unless you have a predisposition to hypertension, low sodium intake is not any more healthy for you than high sodium intake. No studies have shown that groups with low sodium intake are any better off than groups with high sodium intake. Of course, everyone knows (or hopefully they do) that salt is necessary in order to survive.
So, all you bishes that are eating low sodium because you are afraid that salt will hurt you, you don't have to.

![]() I just want to restate, for the record, that Alton Brown is my hero.
On Topic, I don't eat much salt - I almost never add salt to what I'm eating (I do in cooking, of course) - unless I've been sweating a lot. |

![]() My theory is that naturally occuring stuff is good, fake stuff is bad (margarine, fake eggs, fake sugar, etc). Also, marketing fake stuff as being good for you is a good idea.

But, for a normal healthy person, your intake of sodium can be a lot higher than the daily recommended value and nothing has proven that it will hurt you. |

![]() There are lots of people, though, that feel fine but aren't. How you feel isn't always the main thing to pay attention to.
At any rate, there's a lot of stuff out there that will kill us according to one or more experts. There have been claims that cycling causes limp dick as well, but subsequent studies tend to show that, in fact, the intense cardiovascular load the cycling puts on the body outdoes any damage to the plumbing. The thing is that people today need more to worry about than they can come up with in their own lives. I have no idea why, but I think it has something to do with the old mentality of "at least I'm not them". Maybe not. One way or the other, we only listen to the one report that's published somewhere that says that something's bad. Like grilled meat. For crap's sake, use common sense. Eating your body weight in anything will kill you one way or another. |
