There is only one way to find out.

Captain's Log, stardate 23.9, rounded off to the... nearest decimal point. We've... traveled back in time to save an ancient species from... total annihilation. SO FAR... no... signs of aquatic life, but I'm going to find it. If I have to tear this universe another black hole, I'm going to find it. I've... GOT TO, MISTER.

I think all newbies should have to read Unabomber's Manifesto and take a test with a passing grade of 80% in order to have the ability to make a thread. For some reason they all think their questions are original and thought provoking. I mean, come on,who else could have possibly the same question/issue I have? I mean the site has only been around over a decade...............and WTF is Google and how do I use it? I just thought the interweb was just for my Facebook account and Tweeting. And suffice to say, forums are not for asking questions, they are for finding answers. There is a difference.

If the noobs read the stickies we wouldn't have most of these problems in the first place.

I would also add a new rule: It's the damn internet, get over it. Don't be a hero and try to defend your honor. If we make fun of you, you probably deserved it so get over it, you'll live.
I do like your new rule, but don't mess with the magic of 7 1/2 rules.. We like nice, easy-to-remember, even numbers...

By the way, there are a lot of newbies who do read stickes/FAQs. I have read them all (more than once in many cases) and probably still couldn't pass by 80%. The thing is after reading this info, you get more and more experience with your car and the stickies/FAQs make more and more sense (the second time around reading many of these stickies/FAQs with experience to add to the knowledge, the more helpful they become). Seems like the more I read and actually understand, the more I realize I don't know and need to learn, keeps it interesting!

This is a great community to be a part of, minus the ridiculous posts we read daily like the ones quoted by Xan. Hopefully we don't keep having posts by morons who talk **** to the guys who have been responsible for teaching us most (or all) of what we know. (Yeah, I'm going to keep using the Smilies) get over it! haha - Good Read!

I don't see this really mattering - if they can't read the existing stickies and start calling out people that have written 100s of FAQs, stickies, etc. I don't think this one sticky with rules will really help.

I'm all for educating people, but this is the Internet... it ain't gonna happen

Now if at least 60% of people can comprehend the words you put in that first post, then we're off to a good start...

I just want to make it known that I bought a 2011 WR Blue Mica WRX wagon this past Saturday. I was going to make my first post a "Hello everybody" type post, but instead have decided this is more appropriate to say that I read this thread and have been browsing all the rules prior to making posts. I hope I do not offend the snooty old men here

Being one of the largest forums in the world will lead to issues stated by the OP. Personally, I think it would be a decent idea to disallow members to access the Newbie Forum past a certain # of posts. I rarely see veterans helping Newbs.

This seems counter-productive...

Without anyone to set things straight, can you imagine the kind of things that circulate before leaving this forum?! Didnt you read Lord of the Flies?
