Main Classified Forum CLOSED TO ALL POSTS, use sub-forums
As of 9/9/06 the old Private For Sale classified forum is permanently CLOSED. You can no longer make new posts in this forum or reply to existing ones.
And, as you can see the PFS forums are now divided into sub forums for different categories of items. So you MUST post any new threads in the appropriate sub-forum since the main PFS forum is now closed. If you need a thread moved, please PM/email a forum mod to have it moved. If your thread is for mutliple items, you will need to repost them in the appropriate subforums. I hope the division here helps make the PFS easier to use.

Personally, I think this may become more of a hassle. Many of us sell items in more than one category in a given listing. Not to mention all the part-out guys.
Maybe we can have a part-out or mutiple item sub category? |

As a seller you'll have to break your posts up which adds an extra minute or two. THe plus size is you'll get more directed traffic to your adds, peoplle will be searching in specific forums for what you've posted to sell. IN the end, you'll benfit from a little extra work. Great stuff guys ! **EDIT** I'll make one suggestion for the tires/wheels sections. Make it mandatory for the seller to include wheel/tire size in the subject line. It makes it a billion times faster for quick searches without using the search feature. FS: 17x7 - 215/45/17, 18.8.5 - 225/40/18 Easy enough even with more than one set for sale. Finer details like make & model go in the post. |

sounds good to me.
here's another enhancement i would LOVE to see: the ability to order the FS threads by FIRST post date. then i could just scan for new sales and not wade through sales that have been around for months (and that i have already looked at 9 times) that keep getting bumped. i PM'd this to a mod for Classifieds last November. the PM was never opened . . . . |

Trader ratings aren't showing up in the Sub-forums, just letting you know though I'm sure you already do.
I like this new setup. |

I am also trying to get Nick to create a forum specifically for scammer posts- it will remove the need for the stickies, and scammer posts would remain there permanently, hopefully as an added deterrent. In any event, it will make them much easier to find, and if a person is scamming in one subforum, everyone should know about it.

I don't think it's possible, but I will certainly ask that it be looked into. As for the partout forum, I would think it would invalidate the idea of seperating things into specific forums to make them easier to find (an also to make them not disappear off the first page so quickly) both of which were huge problems with the old single-forum system.

You'd then use the 'Sort Results By:' in search options to select 'Thread Start Date' That should get you what you want. |

i had not thought to do it that way, i had been staying in the FS page and trying to order it w/ the menu. the only downside is that it requires a search term (or it seems to) i tried it w/ a suitably generic word (sale) not sure how you could fiddle it to get all the new sale threads. but this is very close to what i was after. thanks, Nick! |

Can we have a sub forum for Electronics...ie Engine management, boost controllers, gauges, etc.??
The Dtec-BC I have for sale is an Accesories/Misc forum (which says is for hats, tshirts, models and such). That doesn't seem appropriate for that type of items. Just my $.02.... |

i dont like it at all.
you know there is a way to have one big personal for sale forum, but when a new thread is created it is given a specific label like 'suspension' that is represented by a small logo on the left side of the post. you can then view all posts together (which is how i prefer to browse) of you can choose to view only 'suspension' or only 'engine' or whatever else... its kind of the best of both worlds. vb.org for more info... hopefully you'll consider it. |

We can make anything mandatory, but policing it is something altogether different. We want people to post their location in the subject line of any classifieds post, and there were icons made so people could post what car the item fit on, but virtually nobody does this. Having all the wheels in one forum all on their own will make things a lot easier- we'll work on fine-tuning as things go forward .

As I clicked on PFS link, I was thinking, "I wish they would divide this up into sections. It's impossible to 'just browse'." Glad to see you read my mind! Much better!

I wouldn't mind BOTH layouts simultaneously, but if I had to stick to one, I'd prefer the original format. I enjoy the clutter, makes browsing more interesting, I may end up buying something I didn't plan to look for originally (ala craigslist style).
This is what makes me like this classifieds better than rs25 and others, but guess it will no longer be so. --Long |

i agree with Long. i like the old setup. i never have anything specific to buy. its just usually "oh, i might need this later on..."
but if i have to i'll learn to like it. |
