Inherited 2017 WRX
I have inherited my Son's 2017 WRX. He loved this car and I want to learn more about the car so I can enjoy it like Him. He has modified the car with engine, chassis, Cobb access goodies. Is there an easy way to post a couple of pics of his car?

With the car already modified, it would be nice to know how and with what; if you know. If you don't, then read that awesome picture posting guide and start sharing. There are a few/more than a few knowledgeable people here that have been around a Subaru several times to share their wisdom. I will tell you this, no matter the modifications, the WRX is not a race car or rally car and should not be driven like such. It is however, a very capable street car that has the power to make people around you think you want to "race" the on the street and they will linger along side you on the highway before doing a downshift WOT rip to say, "look at me...". Or, maybe that's just me because my WRX is red. In either case, enjoy the car, but don't be surprised if other "car people" are drawn to it. |

Thank you all for the replies, the car is fun to drive and I know (grey hair) that's is not a race car nor do I treat it as such, I do have fun keeping the carbon "blown out of it" on the way to work. We recently drove it to the Mexico Beach area and it threw a CEL at me so I immediately stopped and got it read at a local Napa store. He said it was a PO0172 so I researched that when we arrived at out destination. I had him clear it drove it during that weekend, about 3/4 way home it set the light again. So I took it to my local mech who has no Subaru experience he cleaned the MAF sensor and recommended I take it to a Subaru dealer or the shop that had modded the ECM in Alpharetta, GA. I am going to check for any vacuum leaks next week. Right now it is sitting sad in the driveway. Just want to make sure all the Cobb intake tubing it secure and doesn't have any leaks. Before I drive it anymore. Hard for a old man to crawl under it. Even priced a MAF sensor from the dealer and parts houses online. Any opinions?

update
Put together some info that I was able to gather from paperwork and receipts for purchases Matt had bought for his car. He had Cicio performance in Atlanta install a Cobb staged tune that shows numbers of 308 bhp @5500 rpm with 329 ft lbs torque at 4100 rpm.

What wheels and tires are those? They look like aftermarket rims.

All I know is Enkei rims, I'll post more info on the tires when I get home.
I grew up driving a Jeep CJ so I am very familiar with the wave idea! Last edited by jeeper50; 07-15-2021 at 12:40 PM. Reason: fat finger small keypad |

Lets try this again
[IMG][/IMG] My son had alot of tats, he passed away in early DEC of last year, so I figured i would get a tat also. This one is from our employers grief group named the wrenched hearts. It is a bunch of mechanics that have lost children over the years. My son worked at the same airline as a aircraft mech also he was 33yrs old. The tat tells a story that we have been mechanics and have fixed everything our employer has thrown at us over the years, but we can't fix our broken hearts... Thanks Jack for the help with posting pics Last edited by jeeper50; 07-16-2021 at 11:19 AM. |
