recent Overhaulin' Camaro, ugliest Foose car yet?
Okay, normally I'm a huge fan of Chip Foose, but I just don't get what he did with the '71 Camaro. First of all, it's not a very attractive car to start with. Then he crams this huge V8 under the hood, and puts on 7" wide wheels. Then comes the aweful paint job. End result is an ugly look-at-me toy that's really no good for anything but making noise, melting tires, and drinking gas.
I guess the handful of guys that like that body style... and show cars, might have gotten a kick out of that episode. Launching that creature must be an excersize of frustration. Those BFGs don't stand a chance.

If Chip Foose were blind would his wheel designs be any less ugly?

I saw it. there were too many colours on it. It was the first of the second gen. camaro. The original hood was hanus.

'71 Camaro toy with a tasteful paint job I looked all over the TLC Overhaulin pages, but there's no picures of the car from Tuesday's show. I think he said there were 7 colors (or colours 8)) in the weird tribal flame type paint. I usually really like what Foose does with paint, but that Camaro was hideous. |

he said something about 5 base coat then 7 coats on the paint for the flame...and 2 coats for clear or something...hence the 572 on the motor or something like that

I like a lot of what Foose does, just not all of what he does on Overhaulin. I don't care for a lot of his wheels though, but I'm not much of a chromehead. |

I just threw up in my mouth a little. Usually I like his stuff but that paint job doesn't belong on that car and neither do those wheels.

Remember that on Overhaulin' they try to make the person's "dream car" or whatever they may want. Perhaps the owner always talked of crazy flame paint. *shrug*
I agree with beachbum, though. Not something I would do, but I think it looks alright. |

Why does he have to put huge rims on every single damned car he does whether they look right on there or not? Put some damn stock rims on there and the think would have hotness.

The huge rim thing gets me annoyed after a while. That is his style and I don't agree with it, but I have seen him downsize a bit if the person he was building for didn't appreciate huge wheels. The giant chrome rim thing with barely a sliver of tire is really not a great look IMO and it can't make the car more comfortable to drive either.
