I believe that JL has an impreza stealthbox now that you can add to the stealthbox section...

How do I hook an amp/sub up to my stock radio? Can I run a sub off the rear channels of my head unit?
Yes, there are two common ways to do this. Some amplifiers come with "speaker level inputs" where you run the wiring that was going from your stock radio to your speakers into the amplifier. Another method, in case your amplifier doesn't have speaker level inputs, is to buy a Line-Out Converter (or LOC for short). An LOC is a whole lot like an extra speaker level input module; you run the existing speaker wires from your stock radio to it, and then you connect the LOC to the amp using RCA cables. Both methods get the signal to the amplifier, and then you just need to run new wires from the amplifier to the speakers/subwoofer.

New to this board, all the info you have supplied is awsome. I have a sub box, amp, and the line out converter. Can you tell me for an 06 STI, were I can find the rear speaker wires to tap into for the LOC, and what color's the wires would be. Greatly appreciated.

One question, how to you pop off the door panals to get to the door speekers? Also do you have to unscrew your shift nob to get to your radio? Thanks

So I have been doing countless hours of research as to whether or not the Alpine SPR-17C 6 1/2" will fit all four speaker locations on my 1993 Impreza. when I put in my car into Crutchfield.com, it had not listed this as an option but the 5 1/4" instead. The SPS-17C2 was the other option I had as a backup which Crutchfield says will fit at 6 1/2". If anyone has any clues as to this issue or suggestions of a better set of speakers it would be greatly appreciated because I'm starting to blow out the stock speakers .

In the Cabin Speaker Buyer's Guide and FAQ there is an installation guide that should spell it out. If not, you should have also read that this is a thread for general questions, so please post any further questions in a new post (but again the answer is where I just told you which is "yes, but you need a mounting ring").

It should all be in the thread you just replied to, along with maybe a little searching since you have an older ride.

In reference to point #33, the fuse for the dome lamp is in the fusebox under the hood. IIRC it's a 20 amp fuse and labeled "lighting" in the manual. The radio is slot 17 under the dash. I think it's 25 or 30 amp. I'll check my manual after I get out of work. This is on my '93 impreza L btw.

I can help you get started on by being more tech savy by letting you know that first you need to start your own new post instead of interjecting unrelated questions in another person's thread and second you should learn to use the search functionality of this site to see what they have sold for in the past to get an idea.
