Add me to the list of people with poor reception with the Metra 40-LX11. TONS of static and barely any HD radio stations. Even the small trees around my apartment complex gives me a ton of static, which never happened with the stock HU.
I also have poor sound quality overall. It sounds great when the car is parked but when it's moving, it sounds much worse. Not as loud, deep, or clear. I thought it was road noise covering up the sound at first but after a few days of driving around and even putting my hand on the speaker grill as the car is in motion, it's definitely not road noise. This is all on a Kenwood DMX906S. I am not using the OBD2 plug from the Maestro RR and am wondering if that has anything to do with it. You would think it would only affect gauges and diagnostic info and not sound quality itself, but you never know. From what I've read, it looks like OBD2 splitters don't work with the AccessPort unfortunately, which I would prefer to have plugged into the OBD2 at all times rather than the Maestro cable.

They cleared the codes and asked me to try it without the OBD-II plugged in, but the WRX ran fine after they did that and I had to plug the OBD-II back in to have my backup camera again. Stopped by my installer who says he's never heard of the Maestro data link causing can bus errors and to not worry about it. No problem after several weeks driving it, so I'm not going to worry about it, but I had thought up until that point that the OBD-II connection was optional and that I didn't need to use it, only to find out I lose a lot when I disconnect my Maestro RR from the port. |

Hi
I have an 2008 impreza OBS. Its pre-wired from the factory with a satellite antenna and i just got the satellite module for it. I see the female cable from the harness behind my factory head unit. I want to connect the factory harness to the oem sat receiver (which then plugs into the factory head unit) It seems i need this cable: Anyone know where i can buy one? i've been searching everywhere. From an earlier page of this thread i found this link but its restricted to dealers and distributors: https://www.pacparts.com/part.cfm?sku=930760998577 Also of note, the female end of my oem harness connector looks slightly different, notice the offset teeth on the connector here? This is what the female end on mine would match up to. The receiver end is still the pink Fakra connector. |

I am not sure how many of those out there have been having issues with FM/AM radio reception with an aftermarket radio, but I had a breakthrough that completely fixed it for me.
My setup: 2016 WRX Limited with HK/Nav Installed a Kenwood DDX9906XR MaestroRR with SU2 Harness I hooked up the blue power antenna wire from the headunit (NOT from the metra atenna adaptor), but I still had absolutely trash reception. Also tried hooking up the blue power antenna wire to red ACC but that did not help. The fix: I simply unplugged the 6 pin connector from the Maestro harness. Nothing else, just unplugged it. And was completely fixed. And yes, the whole setup worked perfectly with just the 28-pin and the 10 pin connected. There is actually nothing on the 6-pin harness that the headunit or car actually need (only applies to HK/amp). Some bug was cutting power to the antenna when that harness was attached. I can't explain it any further, but all I know is that it works perfectly now. If you have an HK with an aftermarket radio and get trash AM/FM reception, try to unplug the 6-pin connector. |

None whatsoever. Radio reception is fantastic and everything else works perfectly. I was dealing with effing pre-roll ads to streamed radio stations for a year! I will say that this only applies to the HK/nav. The non-hk needs the 6 pin for the rear speakers.

I've got a 2016 WRX Base and I'm curious if the stock dash speakers are on a separate channel or are they run in parallel with front door speakers using a crossover. If the latter where is the crossover located?

I know that when I had a stock HK HU and 440W amp, and was adding an after market 5-ch amp by feeding the stock amp into audio control LC7i and, I was told they had fed the speaker signal from the dash speakers into one input, and the front woofers into another input, and their output was combined into one FRONT output into the 3rd party amp. They fed the rear door speaker signal into the 3rd and final input, so they would "fade" on the rear and go to the 5-ch amp's rear speaker amp. The signals from all 3 inputs were mixed and sent out of the LC7i subwoofer output and into the 5-ch amp for driving my 10" subs. EDIT TO ADD - 2017 WRX Ltd with NAV HK 440 watt 9-speaker system Last edited by ImprezaRS dot com; 04-26-2021 at 08:55 PM. |

The 2016 WRX base model ( and all others accept HK nav units )
have a cross over from the doors and not on a separate channel |

2016 WRX parking brake wire.
I’m installing an alpine ILX-W650. I do not have the bypass, it will take over a week to get to me. Where is the wire so i can connect it properly to get the radio to work. That’s all I’m missig the parking brake wire from the alpine to the car. Don’t know where it is.

I bought a 2016 STI that has a Kenwood DNX893S and uses the ASWC-1 to retain the steering wheel controls. It works alright, but I would like to move to the Maestro RR for the increased functionality. The backup camera and NAV work well as it is. Anybody have any input on whether this would be a fairly simple change over or would it take a fair amount of wiring to do?

Idoing HU in 2016 STI base (no HK)
Hi all,
I recently installed an idoing headunit and everything works great except for the rear speakers. Has anyone else installed this in a 2016 STI with similar issues and found a fix? Plugging in the OEM headunit and testing it, the rears work fine. Thanks in advance. |

1 - Will the OEM backup camera still beep if it detects motion behind the vehicle? 2- Can someone confirm that the parts needed to perform the install will be similar to the above, and that no additional equipment is needed to retain the steering wheel controls. |
