that is odd. i thought the recall was 2012 and 2013 vehicles, but that is off the top of my head without any researching for evidence. have you contacted Subaru to ask?

I didn't but my VIN supposedly isn't included and I remember reading somewhere that it was only "some 2012 model year vehicles".

really strange but maybe this is a mixed blessing? probably unlikely to fail in the first place and if it did in your case, you might have to fight a little, but it seems they would owe you a new engine since this is an acknowledged recall issue on many cars.

i would have been happy to not lose my car for a few weeks and run the risk of them messing up my engine while they opened it up. thankfully, 2000mi later, things are running fine so i have some small confidence that they put it all back together properly.

Just had my valve spring and brake switch recall done at Hadwin-White Subaru here in Myrtle Beach, SC. Engine sounds brand new, and the car drives brand new. They also changed the oil and coolant as part of valve spring recall. So far so good.

congrats!

i'm 7k miles later (much less driving with the pandemic) and everything is still working fine so i am assuming they did the work properly.

i'm just over 88k on the odometer and just did a 90k service on the car (local mechanic) and hope to keep the car going for several more years.
