Ordered a better amp for my outside speakers.
Then a better power supply. Then a better chip thing. The rabbit hole sucks.

I'll probably try out the Fosi tube headphone preamp and see if it sucks. Tho I might try it's tubes in the one I have now out of curiosity.

I'm thinking of mounting my tv on the wall. Any advice on an inexpensive mount?
I do have access to the backside of the wall (a stairwell to the cellar on the other side that I covered with plywood so I could remove if needed). Thanks! |

Since you have access to the wall behind it, I would either mount on at least one stud, or install a horizontal support beam attached to both nearby studs. Also cable management. Pass cables behind the wall. |

Make sure you add an outlet behind the tv if you haven't already done so. Then use the below products for a clean look. Mount https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UNR0L5Y...p=&sprefix=tv+ Or https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=12278 Cable management This https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=4006 or https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=3997 Hopefully it doesn't need to be said that you shouldn't run power through this You'll need low voltage brackets for these also. It looks like monoprice is out, so found you something on Amazon: Here |

my one mistake was getting one that sits super flush to the wall for my gameroom TV. running any new cables to the TV is a PITA because the TV is SO close to the wall - no room to move behind it. |

Thanks, guys. I see a recessed mount on monoprice and that looks interesting.

Has anyone ever built their own projector screen? Looks like I can snag a used 120" off FB marketplace for something reasonable but if I want to go bigger (this will go in my garage so size isn't really an issue to go 140" or so, I'll need to make something custom. I almost bought one last weekend but he had already sold it - said it was a custom deal. Can I make this is less than 15 hours or so with a miter saw and the other basic tools? Worth it? Silver is better than white, right?

As for color & gain of screen - depends on your projector, room, and how bright you want the image. You can also paint a wall with screen paint (google around for the most current paint to use). Lots of people have been happy with just that. |

I started with a painted wall with a border "frame" made out of window casing.
I used one of the paint mixtures on the AVS forum, Silverfire I think it was called. It looked alright but there was some highlight spots from my less than perfect mudding and taping job on the drywall. Eventually I went with a cheap Elite Screen material from Amazon with the CineGrey color and it was almost the exact same color as the Silverfire painted on the wall. It may be a bit more sparkly. As far as mounting the screen material I just stapled it directly to the wall with lots of staples every few inches to keep it tight and then mounted my frame window casing over the staples. It looks good enough for me and was easier than trying to build a frame rigid enough to hold the tension of the screen material. The trickiest part is trying to tension the screen material without having wrinkles/waves appear anywhere. Looks like I only have pictures of it when the kids where using it. The first is the painted wall the second is the screen material. |

Awesome, thanks for the input. An alternate would be to use a motorized screen, but since it's going in the garage (and those don't seem to be as popular on the marketplace), I'll probably just go with one of the above options.
In 2024, I assume I need 4K to give this thing some longevity. Again, I'll likely be buying a used projector. Is there a minimum lumens that I need to shoot for if I want at least 5-7 years out of this thing before upgrading? |

Number lumens will depend on how much ambient light you'll have. 1,000 lumens is fine if the room will be pretty much dark. If you want a room with a bit of light you'll want at least 2,000-2,500 lumens.
May want to look into ultra short throw projectors, they do very well with lots of ambient light. As for longevity - depends how much you'll use it. And if you'll want to replace the bulb, or buy a new PJ when bulb dies. My current PJ is a 1080p, 7 years old, still on original bulb. When bulb dies I'll replace it with a new a 4k laser PJ. |

I'm looking for an over the air antenna for local channels, sports, weather, etc. Is there an effective antenna that just mounts right behind the TV? I don't want a separate unit.
My TV is flat mounted on a wall with no wires or boxes. Does such a thing exist? Amazon makes it look like they are all standalone units that sit on a table or are wired to a window. |

They exist, maybe something like https://store.antennasdirect.com/cle...v-antenna.html ? Either way, that site is gold. You can get a good idea of the channels you'll get.
Also, you could get one of the boxes that just does antenna signal over your home router to wired and wifi, I have an HDhomerun. My antenna is amplified and in the attic, every device I own including my phone can show live and recorded TV. |

I have 2 of these, work fine(distance depending) and can stick to the wall.

You'll note that the version I posted has all stats listed and comes with actual English speaking support. They'll even help you pick the proper setup for your wants and needs.

I have one of those flat ones too and they work good if the stations are near by. Those are also very directional antennas.
I might have to get one of those big attic ones. Been meaning to extend the coax from my bedroom up to the attic, then connect the HDHomerun down in the basement where that coax comes out, and just stream TV channels thought the house. |

antennasdirect has all of that, you can email them for an answer next day, or call them, or plug your address in, or lat/long, or get their app which is pretty handy when you're in the attic mounting the antenna because it shows you all the towers and which way your phone is pointing...

Im thinking of upgrading the sub in my living room from a BIC America f12 to svs pb 1000 pro. Has anyone done this upgrade. Wondering if it’s that much of a upgrade. I think the pb2000 is too large for WAF.
