![]() Anyone know who has Subaru windows in Lexan? Or has made them? Looking for ones that have been formed to
The shape of the window? I found a company in the UK but it's expensive and the shopping is rediculous. Thanks

![]() ok, he bought the material on ebay, traced the rear windows onto them, cut them out and shaped the bend over a kiln
We might try this with our rally car - thanks for reminding me to ask. |

this sounds like the best way to do it if you had access to a big enough oven/heat source and could get the material. |

![]() I had lexan in every window on my car. There isn't enough curve in Subaru glass to really worry about having the windows formed. I just bought flat pieces of lexan and cut them with a jig saw.
There's details in one of my threads. Duncan |

![]() This. For the lechump car I work on, I went to Lowes and bought sheets of Lexan (the real stuff, not the thinner stuff) then traced out what I needed and cut it with a jig saw/hack saw.

![]() I agree with the above advice. The rear panel has just enough curvature to bolster strength without needing to be heat formed.

![]() TIP: Put the lexan over the original glass and trace from underneath. This will ensure the lexan is slightly oversized or just about perfect when you cut the shape out. If you put the glass on top and trace from the top, it will be on the small side.

![]() 40+ lbs in my GC coupe. It's all up high too, so the weight savings is augmented by lowering the center of gravity as well.

![]() Traced it out per Jay and actually used the hydraulic shear at work. Cut the lexan like
Butter with nice clean edges. Also got the block off panels for the trunk and rear shelf cut too. Pretty productive day lol. |

![]() are you going to cut holes in the rear? My car came with one with holes cut, but i haven't used it yet. I've heard differing opinions on this. Summary of what I've read:
pro: holes help vent air out, when you run front windows down and keep lexan from excessively vibrating con: if you run a rear wing it disturbs aero I have no idea what's what because I know jack about aero. Just food for thought |

![]() its pretty easy to do. I am sure you could go with thinner lexan, I just could not source any locally. But the .093 thickness contours nicely. The Lexan can be cut on a mechanical metal shear with out any damage as well. I am going to play with some of the scraps and use a heat gun and see if it will form easily and whatnot.

![]() I got mine from a place called Shields (www.racingshields.com). They do a lot of windshields for NASCAR, Daytona prototypes, etc. You can get them with different coatings like anti fog and anti scratch. They were able to do a custom application for me but I ordered them oversized so I could trim for a perfect fit. Not cheap but still quite a bit less than importing them from the UK. I got the anti fog coating on the windshield and just anti scratch on the back and side windows.
