Not sure if anyone has said it, but there is a camera van in tempe on university between miclintoc and rural every so often. . . Gets even more popular the closer we get to ASU school session. thought i would give the heads up. Be aware, there are infact camera vans in tempe. . they love them. And on Apache west of the 101 motor-cops love to chill on side streets waiting for a speeder considering the limit is 35 and most people go 50.

City of Star Valley just east of Payson on Hwy 260 installed two speed cameras coming into town on both sides about 200 feet after speed limit drops from 55mph to 45mph. No warning sign on the west side of town. Also, both cameras are painted brown to match the surroundings and were placed on the down hill grade coming into town.

WTF just got email from a rental car company in regards to a ticket for $380 in avondale. Think is was a van on mcdowell. Can this be right? At the most I was over was maybe 5-10mph. If I ignore it will it go away? LOL any Information on how this crap works would be great this might be the deal breaker to me moving out there.

I am no expert, But if i understand things the rental company by telling you of the ticket means they have already acknowledged the tkt with the proper authorities. While they can always point the finger at you (and they are via the email) I believe they would still need to 'serve' you. An Email, phone call, etc... is not a valid form of communication as you can Never Really be sure who is on the other end... They have to hand it to you, or you have to respond to it.

As for the tkt amount... well.. you can bet that if they have to pay, they will come after you for the amount + a fee. Unsure how that would impact your insurance... I don't believe the rental company can report it to your insurance... but the Gov. sure can.

I don't think this has been brought up. But DPS bought 10 Toyota Camry's from Larry Miller Toyota last year. They were for the highway patrol. There rules were no base models no white no black. They were picked up by delivery service to have lights and sirens installed. With all the unmarked you never know who or isent a cop anymore. Last year I got popped by a sheriff in a unmarked white expedition. I thought someone was flasing there brights at me intil I saw the were flashing left and right.

Thumbs down

This is really an effective use of our tax dollars to ensure safety on our roads. Everyone knows that it's the people cruising at 10-15mph over that cause all the accidents and fatalities. It's definitely not the people who merge onto a 65mph limit freeway going 25mph, or weave in and out of traffic, or not use their turn signals, or drive 20mph below the flow of traffic, or talk on their cell phone while their 7000lb SUV is drifting into neighboring lanes. Nope...definitely the speeders. The extra revenue is just a bonus (wink, wink).

Just spotted a camera in Scottsdale infront of Salty Seniorita. No van, just a tripod with the camera and flash next to a post. The guy was sitting in a chair behind a tree against the wall with a laptop. There was no way of seeing the camera until it was too late. Most people who got flashed didn't have a chance to slow down. Scottsdale is getting out of control. I've seen vans behind trees and now this.

I have noticed a few MCSO cameras and units with radar on Carefree Highway between Cave Creek Road and 7th Street lately.

There will also be one SB just underneth Indian School and SB right at the I-10 split. They are going up all over the place on the 101.
