Default ok to drill coilover camber bolt hole?

Got a set of maxspeeding rods coilovers for a 97 Impreza OBS and the front camber bolts will not fit through the coilover mount bolt hole. I tried to tap it in with a rubber mallet and its not having it. Both coilovers, left and right, are the same problem. Is this something I could drill out and still have proper alignment and safety, or not a good idea? Every search came up about drilling for more camber, but no answer on safety of drilling the strut. Anyone else experience this with coilovers? My bcs I installed on my oter GF was fine, no issues.

If you're just expanding the holes so that the bolts can go through, I don't see a problem with that. It shouldn't be that far off but that's kind of how it is with these level of coilovers. The top hole isn't round so I would just shave off whatever is blocking the bolt from going through.

BEFORE you take a drill to it take a look at it. I have seen coilovers where one side has a bigger hole to allow the cam of the camber bolt to fit through, and then you nut it on the small hole (that sounds really dirty but I assure you that happens).

As long as you are not expanding the hole by an extreme amount you will be fine. Strut suspension alignment is maintained by the knuckle not moving relative to the strut ears, so even if the hole was a long oval, it wouldn't matter as long as the bolts were properly tightened. FYI- This does not apply in an accident scenario where forces may be much higher than intended. Then again- in an accident, no previous design rules apply.
