Post Call To Action - Michigan Members

Now that the summer motorsports season is upon us, how many of you guys are seriously interested in competeing in some events? Both tarmac and off-road. AutoX, TSD events, etc? conversely, how many are only interested in social events, like friday nights? As the weather is changing I am getting ready to try and put some stuff together for us, but i am not going to spend much time on the areas noone is interested in, for instance if only a few people are sreiously interested in AutoX i won't try to put anything together for group participation in such events.

So, in summary, what kinds of events are you guys interested in this summer? motorspots, and what kind? social events, just fridays or the big cruises? i know what I want to do for me, but what can i do for YOU?

Joe, I am down for any social events and all the cruising around. Also very interested in the auto-xing, but I want to finish my car build up first. Definitely no rallying for me though, my car will be a "showgirl" by the end of the summer and I can't have her all chipped up and dinged. Much respect for rallying though, I love it!!

Rallying, Autocrossing, Social Events all sound great!! I have a couple of buddies (not Scoobie owners) that would be interested in Autocrossing and Rallying. Does anyone else feel that we need our own forum on I-club. I will volunteer to moderate it if there is enough interest AND its cool with the boss(es). PM me, Email or reply here.

Imprezer?

Actually we have elected to just do a mailing list, there aren't so many of us that it would get out of hand and we take the load off of imprezer's server (of course that is pending my getting the damn thing working)

Mailing list is cool, but are there any interest in forming a small impreza car club in michigan? i mean it doesn't have to be all imprezas...just driving around I see alot of Subarus on the road, so I don't think it's going to be that small of a club.. but I could be wrong of course. It's gotta be free though.

hehe Rsarte - read the beginning of the michigan members - read here thread... same people, i'm just trying to guage what kind of participation i can expect if i try to pull some events together, so i started a new thread.

edit: as far as cost.. this will always be totally free. every once in a while we mat try and raise some funds for things but that will be entirely on an opt-in basis.. noone who can't or won't give money won't have to

Also - thank you for the input. Ideas, suggestions, and constructive criticism are always welcome.

I would love to, but with a detroit-scca event the same day I can't really rationalize leaving the country for an event. but take as many scoobies as you can get together, run, and bring back the results for me 'k?

edit: uhmm at $15 pre-reg for members until wednesday and $25 after that, i think i just found a darned good reason to drive to canada... heh. i'm up for a caravan.. just imagine 15 or so RS'es and WRX'es going through the tunnel i'll bet money customs hassles us though.. "what the hell are those?" "there's too many of them for them to be up to any good"

I would really like to see some guys go to each event.. it'll make us look better if we aren't bumping each other out of top finishes

I prefer track events to autocross but I'm in. Taking car to Gingerman June 4th. We'll see how she does. I don't expect it to do as well as my old Type R but should be different and fun.

what do they have at gingerman, god? do I need a roll cage or any expensive equipment?

I too am more into road course running. It doesn't have to be racing, hot laps is all I need.

MichiganRS: No turbo yet, because some of his suppliers are lagging, but overall, I can say that Alan at ASR is a good guy. He does keep me updated.

As for the hood, still waiting on that too from Faspac. They have made me 3 hoods, but each time the hood came out bad and they guaranteed me they would not send me a bad hood. They finally found out they had contaminated resin and now they have ordered a new hood as well to make a new mold. So, it should be a few more weeks.
