You should definitely wait for a 2019 Edge as they'll come in a super sporty ST trim.

There's a Fusion Sport with the 2.7TT AWD (325 hp/380 trq) , and if you want a more powerful Mustang, I think they've got you covered there too...

I believe we have a 2015 limited Edge black leather interior 3.5 . I like it well enough. That 80 to 120 is not to be missed. I often recommended it . It's got about 50,000 miles on it and no problems. By the way the Fusion Sport it's a horrible review combination of bodyweight and economical tune. I really don't care for Ford EcoBoost setups everything I've driven them in you seem to have to ring the motor out.

One trip, as we packed up with 2yr old twins to leave, we had to spend a few hours at the local Ford dealer to get some sensors replaced.

sigh

Edge ST now has roughly 20k on it. In the 18 or so months that we've had it, it's been in the shop more often and for longer than my "never own a german car out of warranty" Jetta GLI.

In the last 6 months it's been in for:
leaking oil pan - which is plastic
heated seats stopped working
adjustable lumbar in seats stopped working
blue screen of death in the infotainment system
and or the reverse camera stayed on while driving forward, would turn off above 10 MPH, but very distracting.
and now the traction control light came on while I was driving it last night around town, the TC light came on and there was a significant loss of power.

Car is in the shop, again, waiting for them to look at it and let us know what the issue is now. Once we get it back, we're going to look into getting rid of this car, it's been nothing but trouble. The first go round with an Edge should have been a sign. . .but it's not my car, so I get little to no say in it.

This is an option you can turn off in the settings.

It happened one day, suddenly. There's a button on the dashboard that you can toggle between the cameras, front, rear and front with both side mirror cameras.

Glad we went with the RDX instead! It's been very reliable. Only had a problem with the battery cable (had to replace the terminal connector) and the AC stopped working (Google told me to try swapping a $10 relay; that fixed it).

And the 2.3T is kinda fun

Yeah, it's a shame. It's a great looking car, we got the blue color with the glossy black wheels.

Edge ST ended up in the shop for 3 days last week. I had to call the dealer daily to get an update even though "they would call me". A software fix on was required apparently, which they did along with a 20k service, oil change and some wheel curb rash fix.

Wife has declared that if we have 1 more issue like this before the warranty is up, then the Edge ST will be gone.

This particular service advisor was the worst of the bunch that I've dealt with at our local Ford dealer (where we purchased the car)

At the rate we've been with this car, I'll be surprised if we get to Thanksgiving before we have another issue with it and we end up selling/trading it in.

This article popped up on my google news feed today:

https://fordauthority.com/2021/02/2021-ford-edge-st-gains-new-7-speed-automatic-transmission-exclusive/

Basically using software, they will be skipping the 2 —> 3 shift making the 8 speed auto into a 7 speed auto.

Another day, another electric issue with this 2019 Edge ST.

Auto Start/stop, which is on by default when you turn the car on and have to remember to disable. If you don’t disable it, I works fine 98% of the time.

But that 2% when it doesn’t is pretty annoying and potentially dangerous. At a red light when the auto start/stop shuts the car off. Less than 20-30 seconds later when it’s time to go as the light turns green, we get an error message to put the car in park and turn it back on again.

Will call the dealer again to schedule time to for them to look at this again. It’s been another ongoing issue with this car.

Took the car in after that last post and they did a software update and all was good...for about 2-3 weeks. Thursday night driving in the Egde and the auto start/stop issue happened again. I called immediately and talked to the same service advisor and scheduled to drop it off last night. Waiting to hear back from them today. He’s going to look into the battery and see if that’s the issue, though I can’t imagine why a battery can’t last past 29k/2 years. Bought the car in March of 2019. I don’t think we can lemon law this car since it’s past the - year mark, but who knows.

Dealer called, battery's CCA was well below the minimum. So yeah, the battery itself was potentially the cause of the electrical gremlins we've had in the Edge ST. New battery was covered under warranty.

We must have gotten a really early build or something. Nothing but problems!

And the battery was NOT the solution. Multiple times the auto start stop has yet again failed at red lights. We even had an occasion where it took 3 cranks for the car to start. This car is a POS. Dealer has been called, again. Another appointment has been made for this car. I think once this car is “fixed” we’re gonna get rid of it and deal with being a little upside down on it. At least used car prices has gone up and we’re better than we were a 6 months ago.
