Yeah, I cant say I've had any issues with their app on my Apple TV 4K or the one included with my Xfinity X1 box. It's functional and laid out well enough for navigation. Then again, I typically use the search function of any media app more than browsing, and the Max app's search is just as good as any.

You know how HBO does those recaps or episode discussions? You can't find them easily. They aren't all there on the page for that show.

For example, Warrior. Go to the page. Shows episodes for season 1 and 2. No extras, no recaps visible.

I'm using Android app.

My one complaint is if you resume a program, it just starts playing it from where you left off and won't let you go to the season/episode list right away... you have to wait a moment before you can stop and look at that list. Annoying if you fell asleep and want to go back an episode or something. But, eh.
Same here

One bug I noticed is when watching a series, at the end of an episode I hit back so I don't have to go through the credits. This brings me back to the screen which shows which episode it was and then the screen will change to show the next one. However, if I hit play to watch the next episode it starts playing the first one in the series. I then have to back out of it go to the episode list and choose the next one from the list to get it to play.

I've had lots of issues with the Xbox app.

I often get the error "Sorry, we are having trouble playing xyz" The only way to fix it if trying again doesn't work is to do a full restart of my entire Xbox. Force Quitting the app doesn't work.

I wish HBO would fix their ****!

I have a white bar showing up on the right side of the screen using HBOMax watching some episodes of B5. Not sure if its the app or the video from the episodes. The TV itself is fine, all other apps work great.

Is it vertical? On the right side? Only time I saw that was when watching the 4:3 version of Justice League

I complain constantly that the phone based app is a really unrefined piece of crap in terms of interface and usability, not even a decent FF or RW function during video playback like Netflix, Amazon or even Hulu possess.

Also when I play stuff on my phone then Cast it to my TV via Chrome cast, somehow the mobile app constantly loses its connection with my TV Chrome cast, it continues playing on the TV but I lose my ability to control playback from my phone app and have to re sync it again.

I notice this problem with the more poorly made video streaming apps on my phone.

No, it's normal theatrical wide screen, meaning even on a HDTV you'll get black bars on the top & bottom

That 4:3 thing was just an annoying creative choice made by Zack Snyder.

Just finished Young Justice S3. That ends the series, but apparently WB/HBO is making a S4.

KNOW THIS: The best, BEST thing about this DC series: There's like zero Superman. Or even WW. All of the originals are gone, mostly. There's very little smash punching.

It really was one of the best animated series I've seen. Season 1 and 2 were on a track, S3 went off the rails, in an amazing way. I am a HUGE fan of Batman, The Animated Series (have the blu ray set). I am a HUGE fan of the X-Men animated series (Saturday morning Wolverine! Also Gambit, since everybody forgot). I tell you now, without a doubt, this one is worth watching.

Highly super duper recommend, if you like comics at all. I teared up, a lot, during this series. When Cartoon Network took over for S3 and did the "watch our streams" kind of ending credits, almost killed me a couple times.

I'm tearing up a bit just writing this. Argh. It's over, and I'm excited for more.

I started this and am most of the way through S1.

It's good. Instead of pure monster-of-the-week they have a bunch of long story arcs going on, which is nice. There are lots of callbacks (like Robin constantly taking the beginnings off of words to make new words) and actual character building and worldbuilding. Both nice. Dialogue is fun, they make fun of themselves an appropriate amount.

My God but I don't think I'd ever even heard of Zatara before this series. I have so much trouble taking that character seriously. He's supposed to be super powerful, but jesus, he shows up with his top hat and cane and just riding on a glowing magic disc and it's ****ing...

I can see why DC would have kept him on the back burner in favor of Supes, Batman, WW, etc.

I mean, I'm glad they are using different characters instead of just rewarming the same tired handful over and over. Having watched Teen Titans, I was worried this would be the same again, but they manage to skip that by keeping ONLY Robin between the two series.

They do a good job managing the raging hormones of these teenagers in a realistic but subtle way, too.

Young Justice is Co created and written by 'Babylon 5' J Michael Strasynky as well which is why the show focuses in character and story arcs.

I quite like the show, my only gripe is that the dialogue sometimes feels like it's written to shut up nitpicking nerds who will point out and pick at any plot or logic holes in any given scene.

The characters always seem to explain or cover EVERYTHING that isn't depicted on screen even if it doesn't sound like natural dialogue.

Finally finished The Flight Attendant. Overall I liked it. Her character arc had a satisfying payoff in the end, even if it hurt to watch her get there. I think some shows are better to watch with someone else as opposed to just chilling and watching alone and this felt like one of the ones to watch along with someone. Kind of like Seinfeld or Shark Tank, which I also don't care to watch alone, but will gladly watch with a buddy and we'll be entertained.

However sometimes it is.

"Did you hack the Quinnjet?"

"I hacked the Quinnjet."

"Umm, so...we were all able to see your fever dream hallucination too."

This was actually a very touching scene as one character had a fever dream hallucination where he was fighting alongside his friend, a character that died in a prior season.

‘Warrior’ Renewed for Season 3, Moves to HBO Max

By Joe Otterson

“Warrior” has been renewed for Season 3, with the show moving from Cinemax to HBO Max, Variety has learned.

The first season of the show aired in 2019, with the second having debuted in October 2020. The series is based on the writings of Bruce Lee. It is set during the brutal Tong Wars of San Francisco’s Chinatown in the late 19th century.

The cast includes: Andrew Koji, Kieran Bew, Celine Buckens, Olivia Cheng, Dianne Doan, Dean Jagger, Langley Kirkwood, Maria-Elena Laas, Hoon Lee, Christian McKay, Dustin Nguyen, Miranda Raison, Chen Tang, Joe Taslim, Jason Tobin, Joanna Vanderham , Tom Weston-Jones, and Perry Yung.

“’Warrior’ introduced viewers to a distinct world from the past, executed with dynamic action and relevant storytelling, with a brilliant cast led by Andrew Koji,” said Casey Bloys, chief content officer of HBO and HBO Max. “We can’t wait to see what Jonathan, Justin and Shannon will bring to the next chapter of this series on HBO Max.”

“Warrior” was created by and is executive produced by Jonathan Tropper under his Tropper Ink Productions banner. Justin Lin, Danielle Woodrow, and Andrew Schneider also executive produce via Perfect Storm Entertainment alongside Shannon Lee for Bruce Lee Entertainment. Brad Kane and Richard Sharkey also executive produce, with Kenneth Lin, Evan Endicott and Josh Stoddard co-executive producing.

“Justin, Jonathan, and I were thrilled when ‘Warrior’ was put on HBO platforms to be discovered by a whole new legion of fans,” Shannon Lee said. “Now we are excited and grateful for the opportunity to do another season, and we applaud HBO Max for understanding the importance of telling this story and for continuing to support this level of representation in our industry. I just know that my father is grinning right now to see this show he dreamed of so long ago continuing to beat the odds. We have every intention of delivering the same high level of meaningful storytelling and Gung Fu action in season 3!”

Have you guys talked about the live-action Titans show? I watched the first episode last night and it is... not terrible. I am going to see if it gets better or worse over the next couple of episodes.

Two episodes in. I like it. It's dark like Daredevil or Jessica Jones, but with that DC feel from WB or whatever channel but with blood, guts, cursing, etc. And it has the entertaining vibe of The Boys. I finished Doom Patrol a few weeks ago and LOVED that so I imagine this will be just as good. DC Direct or whatever it was called quietly made some solid TV.

Sooooo, the Titans live action show is an interesting conversation.

I've watched the entirety of the 2 seasons and if there's a 3rd season I'll watch that too (mainly because 2nd season ends in a cliffhanger IIRC).

There's some good stuff about the show (drawing from comic book Titans lore, some of the characters, the violence, action, etc) but there's some pretty bad stuff about the show as well (the overly angry, edgelord tone, some of the other characters, some of the writing).

You watch more of the show and I'll get into these things in more detail, but suffice to say there was enough good stuff to keep me hooked in the show and finish what was available, and overlook some of the really crappy aspects of the show.

While you're right about the series being dark in tone similar to Daredevil or Jessica Jones, unfortunately it's nowhere near as good as a show like Doom Patrol IMHO.

It had enough good stuff to keep me in the show but there's enough insufferable aspects about it that if someone gave up watching midway, I wouldn't blame them.

I'm midway through S3 of Young Justice now.

I don't think that they explain off-screen stuff too much. In fact quite the opposite, often I notice things happening, new characters arriving, that are NOT explained, and we have to wait and find out later what that's all about.

It's definitely gritty. S3 picks up the pace on the violence and gore. I mean... we see kids with half their face removed and their skull exposed more than once. That's some serious stretch on the TV-PG.
