Default Need a bit of help w/OEM gauge housing ...

I am using Autometer gauges and Dremeled some textured ABS and installed the gauges and it looks good but,

After having it in for a few weeks I noticed a rattle that I suspected was the wires tapping on the top of the plastic air ducting.

I then noticed that the housing could sit firther back and have the clips be more secure if I shaved a 1/16" off the back of the gauge face I made.

Didn't work out so well. now the gauge housing does sit back and clip in a bit better but now the gauge face has some play and rocks back and forth just a little.

Next I took it apart and inserted some foam between the metal bracket and the backside of the gauge face at the top and it now looks flush again but I hear another rattle.

This time I am thinking it's the gauges themselves. before I go tearing into this again and getting more frustrated, I'd like to hear your trials and tribulations of installing your custom gauges face into the OEM housing.

Drew, Do you have any pics of your set-up? I fabricated an aluminum face plate on mine and it worked out quite well (52mm Omoris in an OEM housing).
