Another gripe of the day; FedEx Smartpost, this is the biggest scam I've seen for the week. $12 of shipping charges to ship 2lbs that's going to take an entire week.

Mrs. Lag ordered food delivery for dinner, I'm sure I've griped more than once about her unwillingness to cook. The place stops delivery at 6 and I swear we've called them and they say really you have to get the order in by 5:30. She put the order in just after 5pm and we're waiting. We figure rush hour traffic is why it's taking a little longer than normal. She finally calls them and they got the order but they stop taking orders for delivery at 4:30pm. That itself was almost the gripe.

The gripe is they kept the order but marked it for delivery tomorrow. When were they going to deliver it tomorrow? Maybe let someone know they did this? We'd come home to a bag of food that's been sitting in the hot sun for eight hours? How the hell would we know? Would they just take it back if no one answered? What then?

If anyone works or has worked at a place that does this please clue me in.

What the hell are they thinking with stopping delivery at 6? They miss easily three quarters of the dinner rush.

The only Chinese place in the area that delivers says that they deliver within a 5 mile radius. Google maps says that my place is 4.97 miles. I ordered from them the first time and had to give them directions (the lady at the restaurant called and relayed what I told her to her husband/the driver). He griped about how hard it was to find when he got here (How does he not have Google maps?), the second time I ordered he griped about how far it was.

I got the point that they really weren't interested in actually honoring that 5 mile radius and stopped ordering from them. I think they're out of business now.

Gripe, Hoonigans YouTube videos are mildly entertaining background noise... maybe it's a joy.

I'm guessing they are a sit down place first and foremost and want to concentrate on the in house customers.

Is it illegal to carry porn magazines on an airplane, on your carry on?
Just went through TSA and this lady had her bag rummaged through. Guy went through all of them. She had tons of magazines on it, and one hand cream.

Just thought, what if it was me, with a bottle of lube(TSA approved size), and tons of porn magazines?

Probably not as long as you don't whip them out on he plane. If you did mid-flight they would probably ask you to put them away and if not they would land and kick you off. I think secretly the flight crews enjoy the schadenfreude associated with kicking people off planes for trivial things.

Hold on appropriate username gripe incoming.

Driving my 64 Datsun today, because my mom is in town so she's using my daily driver. I was headed home for lunch when I hear a god awful metal clang sound. I immediately shut down the car, but I am in the middle of the road so i start it back up to pull off. No noise, but my ignition warning light is on. I pull off look under the hood and the ****ing pulley for my newly rebuilt and rather expensive alternator is MIA. I initially thought it sheered off, but the shaft is still in place along with the woodruff key. I walk back to where I heard the sound and find the pulley on the ground.

Seems the shop failed to either properly tighten the nut and/or use loctite to ensure it would not back off. I limped the car home without incident.

Secondary gripe, my Vespa that I tried to ride back will not accelerate above 25 mph. This after I had it in the shop for the exact same issue.

Fortunately the weather is not horrid so I was able to ride my bike back to work. Not sure if I should call the shop that rebuilt the alternator and complain or what.

Not exactly defending the shop but it was common to not bolt pulleys down in parts stores since what someone came in with wasn't always what they were going to use. It's silly but I couldn't tell you how many pulleys I've swapped. But considering you brought an old alternator in to be rebuilt the assumption should be everything goes back on it, bolted down.

Will be interesting to hear their take.

You found the pulley and nut, and were able to drive home ? That would be a random joy for me, not a gripe.

Pulley, not the nut. Went and bought nuts but seems the threads were damaged. So this will be going back to the shop Monday.

Got new tires delivered yesterday. Called my usual local installer this AM to make sure they could do it today. The last 5 times I've had them do the mount & balance.

Apparently some lawsuit over a customer supplied refurb alternator that caught fire after the shop installed it now has a bunch of shops now refusing to install parts not bought thru them.

I called another local independent shop...same story.

If I could do the balancing myself I'd do it myself from now on.

That does suck. If you want to take the chance I'd call a used tire seller to do it then maybe get the balance checked during a service at your trusted shop.

If you can mount them yourself just drive in and ask them to do a rotation and balance.

Dropped a fuel injector clip while replacing intake gaskets on the van today. Took 2 hours to find it

Of course they say that... but we all know that the real reason is that if you bring your own parts, they can't charge the retail markup on them that they would traditionally charge on shop supplied parts.

That, I have a good installer here, but normally he can beat tire rack prices after shipping.

Gripe, the crazy that emerges from wedding planning and the keeping up with the Jones mentality that ensues.
