Got an email from Best Buy about Black Friday deals, they have the 10" Klipsch subwoofer on sale for $50 more than the Costco deal on the 12". I spent a little bit of time on the BestBuy chat yesterday to see if they would pricematch the 12" sub. I got to 3 agents who all got the SKU and said they needed 3-4 mins to check and all 3 times, I got technical issues.
I'm going to be stopping by the local BB near my work, which is minutes away from the closest Costco, so If they'll pricematch, sweet. IF not, I'll drive over to Costco and get the sub there (if they have one in stock!)

I was hoping to just order the sub online with them yesterday at the pricematch and be able to walk in today and just pick it up. Edit: I don't have a Costco membership, I thought I could walk in and buy it for that non-member price in person, turns out that's only Online. I hope Best Buy will pricematch and I can walk out with the sub tonight and set it up when I get home. |

At some point you just have to bite the bullet and enjoy your purchase. Or never buy anything, save a boat load of cash, and retire early. |

I'm sure the silvers are very good and you would be happy with them. I think you are well into the point of diminished returns. Gold series have that planar/ribbon tweeter which is probably where a lot of the cost difference comes from. Lots of people love ribbon tweeters, I dont have much experience.
Silver series seams to be high sensitivity and 8 ohms, while gold is moderate and 4 ohms. Probably the avr is fine for either but if you will need an amp is will be more likely for the golds than the silver. Then again quality is remembered after price is forgotten. My mains have a similar MSRP to my daily driver so I am a bad reference. Last edited by aschen; 11-13-2020 at 11:31 AM. |

Looking at Sony Z9F soundbar/subwoofer plus the wireless rear speakers. because of the setup of the living room, running wires to rear speakers are proving difficult.
It's reduced to $996 from $1199. Hmmm.... And it seems to have good reviews. Then all I need is a 55" Sony X90 from Costco and that should complete the setup. And a specific Kallax shelving unit that seems to be out of stock at any IKEA near me... I need to to meet in the corner it to the other one I have and place the TV in a corner (to reduce glare and face more of the sectional seating head on, if that makes sense. |

These guys seem pretty good for replacement stylus and AT in general. Think some of it is grey market imported or something. I ordered a moving coil AT cartridge from them a few years ago and they were 30% cheaper than anywhere else.
https://www.lpgear.com/category/ATBC.html Edit: if it is a standard moving magnet AT cart, it probably has a replaceable stylus |

So the smaller BB sub is $50 more than the Costco
Just go get a Costco membership, buy sub, profit on cheaper gas etc. https://www.groupon.com/deals/cpn-co...tar-membership |

I see no reason why one would NOT have a costco membership. I've got their exec and their 2% cash back has already returned me 2x the membership fee. |

This. The closet Costco is the one that I'll be near tonight, it's about 10-15 mins away from work kind of sort of on the way home, but not really. SO it's not worth joining. We used to have a Samsclub membership back in day and we rarely used it. |

Related: sounds like one of the used VRS surrounds is blown
Rattles pretty good when loud things happens. Might take it apart and see if it's something obvious and repairable. Edit: do I build a speaker stand/rack and use these studio reference monitors I have, or wait a year and get some different bookshelf speakers for rear channels.... So back to where I started / umm a little bit behind because my son has chosen to push in the nose of the cone I took out. I guess I can always call Polk or Parts express to figure out a replacement driver here. |

BB would not price match because the sku at Costco is different. Lame. My buddy’s wife works at Costco, I didn’t want to bother them about it, but I did. She’s working again on Monday and I’ll meet her after she gets off work and go shopping with her. Win/win

My Vizio E55-E1 TV just developed a dark lower right corner...looks to be the LED strips are dead.
Ugh...there's videos out there showing how to replace them, which isn't tough, just time consuming. And replacing them all seems to be the way to go, because the rest are probably right behind it. Apparently, this may be a common issue as Vizio uses a much bigger power supply than what's needed and over-drives them, leading to premature failure. |
