This would actually be ideal, unless there is "second row" seating. It being lower than the ledge and spaced out from the wall would also be good for bias lighting should the display be an LED LCD.

The TV area that you drew in black would have to be a 75" or 82" TV then.
The height from ledge to ceiling is 43" and an 82" Samsung is 41.6" tall
75" would be smaller and most likely similar to what you depicted as well.
I was shooting for 75".

Hahaha, I want to get the 82" Samsung:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung...?skuId=6202114

The wife's aunt has one for $700. Open Box Special

You guys don't think it's too large for that space?
I've gotten mixed reviews from friends and family

That's a perfectly reasonable big-ass TV. Get some bias lighting to help bring out the contrast a little and I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

Also: Fish Bulb is right. No such thing as too big.

I agree. I wanted to go that large, especially for the price I can get it.
I was heavily listening to my brother, who's just a big douche

What's an inexpensive mount that would meet my needs then?

Look at the Amazon Basics line. They're inexpensive and do exactly what you need thm to do.

I see something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-...qid=1570814427

Do I have to fully extended it though? Or it will only come out a few inches?

Looks adjustable to me, up to 19 inches. That would be handy for those rare times you need to get behind the TV. I hate taking mine off the flush mount its on.

Thank you!!!

Think I may go with this one instead:
https://www.amazon.com/Bracket-Artic...ronics&sr=1-13

Seems more controllable for depth/ tilt.

That's like the one I have for my 65" TV. It works well but it looks like the second one you picked would work better if you just wanted the TV to go straight out.

Thank you gentlemen! I appreciate the help. The only furniture we will have in that room is an L shaped sectional and possibly a small armed chair, so it should work out.

I had a thought of possibly running the tv cable to the wall on the right of the picture I posted and then just wall mounting it there. The ledge is only on two sides of the room.

I'll keep you posted as to what I do.

Found a pic from when I was replacing the popcorn ceiling with sheet rock:
You are some drywall and studs from having a completely flat wall, with plugs where ever it is you want them. Hell, even a flush mount screen.

Maybe I can get a 2nd opinion on this. So my local Target has one Vizio 36" 5.1 Soundbar it's currently on clearance for $125, guess new it goes for $250. I was curious if this is a good deal or not. I would either use it as a system for my desktop or maybe on a my living room tv. My current System is an AV system I put together, Pioneer AV, Polk Speakers etc.
https://www.vizio.com/home-theater-system/sb3651e6.html

They also had a Philips 43' 5000 series 4k tv on clearance for $189. Prob better than the old Samsung 40 I have...

I'm actually using this in my office/gaming room right now. Its...ok. I find I get non-correctable audio/video sync issues when feeding it dolby digital signals through ARC (both HDMI andf Optical). I ended up relying on direct optical connections and a switch box (as I'm feeding it PC, Xbox, and PS4).

Sound-wise, it fits the bill. Not going to rock the house, but it does soft-rock the office.

Hmm, if it's still there tomorrow I might go pick it up. I have been using an older Sanyo SB as my desktop speakers via optical cable. The Target gal was like it's been marked down 2x already, our new markdowns are on Monday. This may or may not be return to vendor then...

I ended up at Target, it was there. But, I ended up getting some Logitech Z207 pc speakers on clearance for $19 instead. They arnt bad...Wouldnt mind more bass :\

My local Best Buy has/had an open box Samsung HW-N400 for $73, without a remote...dunno if that is worth my time. I def notice a difference switching from a SB to a 2.0 setup.

Dunno about you guys but I am seeing more and more people that I know go from surround systems with at least 6 speakers to sound bars.

Even a bud of mine who just re-did his whole house and made it into a smart house doesn't have a theater room his family/TV room has a huge smart TV and some amazing sound bar.

He has a music room with an amazing system that feeds speakers all over the house controlled from his phone though.

I like my multi channel surround sound.

after trying about a dozen different HDMI cables to run between my AVR and TV all of which had trouble consistently passing a 4k (let alone 4k HDR) signal the 18 feet or so to the TV I have ordered a 48gbps fiber optic HDMI Cable from monoprice. If this doesn't do the trick I guess I will just give up on 4k. Sick of flickers and grey fuzz necessitating reboots all the damn time.

I think sound bars have come a long way and unless you have a dedicated theater room it’s hard to tell the difference for most people.

My upstairs is wired and in-wall speakers for 5.1 but the Sonos sound bar and sub do just fine. It’s a high ceiling and weird shape room so I am not feeling like rear surround is necessary at all.

Basement has a 7.2 setup in a nice rectangle shape room with pretty decent speaker placement. A room like that you can really take advantage of a multi speaker setup.

I'd just hate to give up and go straight soundbar, I felt like I threw "a lot" of money at my system back in the day. Well, a lot is subjective, but ya

My Pioneer VSX-1018 is still pretty good, hate to retire it. Wish it had built in BT.

Maybe they were trying to reclaim space, remove clutter, or remove standing speakers from the way? And a sound bar is good enough?

I went the other way, from what I thought was a pretty good sounding bar to. 5.1.2 system and wouldn’t go back.
