This isn't mine personally, but I use it from time to time.

No we don't run with the giant flag all the time.. this was Canada Day celebrations and the public/official introduction of the ATV/UTV.

Polaris Ranger 6x6 - can shift from 6WD to 4WD (rear wheels) to 1WD (only one rear wheel propelled, for travel on turf or pavement). We've added radios, lights & siren, windshield, and department markings. We use it for backcountry rescues (up mountain trails, etc) and off-road firefighting, with a skid unit that goes in the back with a couple dozen gallons of water, a little 10-ish HP pump, and some fire hose - along with a place to put a Stokes rescue basket.

I swear I'm 95% done asking questions about this damned axle

I have the bearing and dust seals installed. Gooped all to hell inside the carrier, put about 1lb. of extra grease between the carrier and the spacer bearing, greased every surface that didn't have grease as well. Slapped all together, rotated the axle and it seems like it is fine. Butter smooth if not a bit stiff feeling, which i attribute to it being 32 degrees outside.

All I have to do is tighten up the axle nuts. Do I want them against the sprocket carrier tight or should there be a little play? I read having them too tight will wreck the bearings.

God I hope the bearings don't roll out of it when we get the thing back together and running.

Pics of the Warrior being pulled from the barn for the first time in years to follow.

I do have a video as well but it ist showing up on the iPhone app or accessing via safari. I'm impressed it even ran after sitting that log, we just put some gas in it, rigged up a battery since the one on it is dead, and that bastard started up in 20 turns! Needs a carb cleaning bad but it runs.

Victory is mine!

Ordered a bunch of new parts to get it going. New brakes, battery, oil, oil filter, front wheel bearings chain rollers and some odds and ends. I'd like to see this puppy be rideable by the weekends but depends on whether or not the shipping gods shine on me.

EDIT: Or not? Video not working with Nasioc?

I'm assuming a Blaster, probably 2 stroke? Fast fun little things to zoom around on.

Woot! Got to ride the Warrior yesterday. Needs a carb cleaning and a clutch as well as clutch cable, but it was nice to tear around on it. It runs like a champ WOT but the idle jet is gunked up as it won't idle and it backfires if you back off the gas at all.

I had forgotten how SHORT the gears were setup on Warrior. The first 3 gears almost feel exactly the same! I think I might mess with the sprockets to get a little more out of each gear when it is up, but besides the chain, it looks like both the front and rear are in like-new condition.

So I got a 2003 Polaris Predator 500 yesterday for 1700 bucks. Has HMF pipe(slipon), jet kit, K&N filter, and a rev limiter device of some sort?. Seems to have low hours (is there a way to check???) and is really clean. Tires are almost new up front and 3/4 in the rear.

Needs some small body work that epoxy should easily take care of

Any things to look out for? This is my first quad. I know I want some nerf bars and something that extends the foot controls would be awesome. Also are there aftermarket fender extenders or atleast a way to limit the amount of mud this thing throws up??? I got covered yesterday.

Bump of an old thread for me to share my Japanese-redneck fantasy:

carted around in the bed of something like this (cheap ol' 2WD, V6 long bed model would do):

to ride these trails:

This project is delayed by a few things. Death of my mother, the fallout from her passing with my family, death of my grandfather, new job etc... I need to get it running and luckily the new job = $$$ so I'll have that, it's just finding time to do it now between overtime at work, transitioning to a new role, dealing with a possible will battle... I've had the highest highs and lowest lows of my life in less than 6 months time

Headed out to Arizona on Sunday to check out three 1989 Honda pilots; two appear to be in pristine condition that have been garaged their entire life and the third is a parts Pilot. I've wanted one of these ever since I was a little kid. Hopefully I don't jinx myself by posting here. If all goes well they'll be home before mid-May.

I'll probably end up using uship.com to ship them. It sometimes takes a few weeks to get onto someone's scheduled pickup route. I've had decent luck with them in the past...just have to be willing to wait sometimes for the right price.

Don't want to just trailer them home?

Going to try and explore that route as well. Not sure if I have a big enough trailer for all three. My dad is in North Texas and is taking some measurements of some of his trailers. Should know more in a day or two.

Maybe the parts one could go in the bed of the truck.

Good call; my dad had the same idea. I think we can make it work with one of his trailers if we take his toolbox out. Every now and then, an 8-foot bed comes in handy.

You could always rent a trailer from a local resource or find a buddy with one? I don't keep a 24' trailer around but I know 2-3 guys that have one for their toys that would very likely let me borrow one.
