good choice on the monolith me thinks. Kinda bizzare monoprice is making high quality lines these days, but all the products seem to be great value.

I was back and forth on this and the SVS PB2000 and one of the HSU subs.

HSU wanted like $160 to ship, so f that.

This one went on sale at Amazon for 20% with free shipping.

I can't wait to hear your review. I had one of the 12's briefly but it was DOA. Monoprice was surprisingly difficult to get it RMA'd and wouldn't do any troubleshooting over the phone (it was likely an amp issue) so I ended up going a different route.

I'm not complaining as I ended up with two SVS Ultra SB16s...well my wallet is complaining a bit.

Jesus that's a huge step up from a single 12

I bought mine from Amazon though, so I wasn't really too worried about sending it back since it was Prime.

I'll probably watch a full movie sometime this weekend I think. I've just watched bits and pieces of movies to get a quick taste.

Tron cycle scene, 13 Soldiers rooftop battle (really liked this one), U-571 depth charges. This thing gets pretty low. I'm finding all kinds of decorative type **** in my house that rattles and I've had to move a bit on their shelf or wall or whatever to quiet it down

Picture frame bumpers can do wonders for rattles. If you have a lot of framed posters/pictures/prints hanging like we do.

https://www.amazon.com/Protect-Cushi.../dp/B000JLD7LO

Possibly try isolation pad/feet on the sub as well. Especially if it's on a mid level floor.

You should be able to tame some of the rattling.

+1

I put isolation feet on my subs and it made a big difference in room rattles.

ARC audio will randomly drop out from my Sony TV to my Pioneer AVR. It mainly happens randomly during YouTube videos played through the TV's app. I have to cycle the power on the AVR to get it to pick the audio back up.

Have this wall downstairs. Ceiling and recessed are up now
Possibly going to mount an 82" TV on there. 41.5" tall versus 43" tall wall
What's the best method for me to "build off" of that shelf??
(It's the white lip you see about 7-8" deep)
I want to house my cable box/ ps4, etc and hide wires really well.
Any suggestions?

What to you want, a shelf to house the equipment next to the TV? Wall mounted TV? Are you going to use TV speakers/soundbar or will you have a receiver and surround setup?

Probably a shelf compartment to house equipment underneath/attached to that shelf like area. Probably just going with a sound bar/ wireless sub. Not that big into theater style audio, etc.

Could possibly get away with using this mounted underneath

Finally had the time to set up the Edifier speakers by getting the optical cable behind the TV and running it to the speakers. Extremely happy with the purchase. At the sale price, this is way better than any sound bar or HTIB at a similar price point.

Would post pictures but photobucket is a piece of trash now.

Also, thinking about picking up one of the Monoprice house brand subs (not a Monolith, one of the $100 models). They have a 30 day return policy. If it sucks, return it and go with a Polk or the Kilpsch.

Just said **** it and about to order a Monolith. The 8 inch Monolith is one sale.

What cable do you need? Do you need a single male to single male or do you need male to 2 male?

IE this

or this

Single. Do your new sound system have output for this though? Might want to read what outputs it has.

Edit
Might not work as you want it to

Our 2.0 speakers are not intended for use with a sub, and they do not have a sub out. There is, however, a workaround that can help depending on what sub you have. If your sub has an adjustable crossover and RCA inputs, you can use an RCA splitter for each of the inputs and then connect the other splitter cables to the sub inputs. This will only work with Aux-in and not with Bluetooth, or S/PDIF.

Which model did you get that from? Full_Clip has the R1850DB
(https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1850...s%2C159&sr=8-1)

Looking at the back of the speaker, there's a port labeled "sub out" which is a 3.5 mm port.

You should need a stereo 3.5mm - 2 RCA connector cable. I used also a 3.5 mm stereo extension to get closer.

I got that straight from their webpage
https://www.edifier.com/us/en/support/products/edifier-r1850db

On the faq rug area

It does have sub out, not sure why they say it’s not meant to be used. Probably due to the lack of xover or amp for that outout.

The system comes with an 3.5 to dual rca. I would get a rca y cable and the use a single rca for sub. Assuming the sub has adjustable xover and amp

Placed the order for the monolith last night. While cruising through the site, they had an open box 10 inch for $399 (versus the sale price of $479 for the new one) and went with that instead.

Im not following 100% but if your sub out is stereo, you cant use a y connector to sum R+L. Just use r or l for the sub as most bass is mixed mono

Anyone know if there is a way to rent one of those $$$$$ hdmi cable testers? I've struggled for two years with my setup losing connectivity between the source (XBox OneX) and the sink (LG C7) when playing even regular 4k let alone 4k HDR. Things will usually start with some flashes of white and then it will lose connectivity entirely until the TV and AVR are restarted. I've had to go through about 3-4 different cables before finding one that worked at all but still things aren't ideal. The AVR (Anthem MRX720) is supposed to be simply passing the signal through with zero video processing but im wondering if it is introducing just enough signal loss that it is having trouble maintaining signal integrity.

The cables run through low voltage conduit from an AV cabinet to the TV on the wall. Another possibility is that my LV conduit passes too close to power? Based on the routing of the conduit I end up needing a 20ft HDMI cable run which is actually beyond the 16ft "limit" for certification of cables...

I was thinking of getting some sort of HDFury product that can fake the EDID signals or something but I might just wait for HDMI 2.1, hopefully the additional shielding inherent to that specification's additional bandwidth capacity might solve my problems if the connectors are physically compatible?

Probably cheaper and a lot less trouble to just replace the suspect cables. If you want to be really sure, get the Monoprice slim Certified Premium dealies:

https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=24187

Cable price is irrelevant. That certification with the holographic tag is not, and is a real industry standard that is proof the cables are up to full 4K HDR bandwidth. I've also had good luck with the Amazon Basics High Speed HDMI cables though they are technically not certified premium:

For a run that long, you're going to want an active cable. Like:

It appears to come with a stereo 3.5 - RCA cable in the box. My amp has a 3.5 sub out and the sub has L/R inputs, I just have to have that input selected on the Sub.

I'm currently using a monoprice active cable. out of the 6 cables I tried it was the only one that has actually worked at least a little bit but it still frequently fails.

This is the one I have:
