Default What do you want for Xmas? What are you giving?

Xmas has only recently crept onto my radar (many reasons why it ain't on my mind) and, well, it's like 20 days away and it's time to start thinking about it

So, OT, what do you want for Xmas?

And is there anything you are getting someone that you are especially proud of...something super clever, and/or unexpected, and/or necessary that someone truly needs, and/or silly?

For my grandmothers 102nd birthday (May) we've rented a house on the coast (like we used to do 30 years ago). I'm gonna hire a photographer to get some, fingers crossed, great pictures taken for us all as a Xmas present to the family. I wish I could take credit for that idea 'cause it's a great one.

We're not supposed to be exchanging anything among adults. That said, I'm getting my FIL mountain bike lessons with my buddy who is a coach(he just got a used eMTB and lives by trails), and we'll get my MIL something too. They just do too much for us that it feels weird not getting them something even if they don't want it.

8yo is a getting a 1500 piece LEGO Porsche set and some other stuff.
5yo is getting a BMX bike and other small stuff as well.

I would literally love for 10 people to come help me work on my house for 12hrs. Legit thinking about trying to start a co-op with some buddies for 1-2 times a year for all parties involved.

We’re doing a family vacation to Key Largo in the spring so nothing between the wife and I. Kids get stuff. Thinking this might be the last year of big stuff. If travel can open up again we’ll start gifting travel/vacation. I think they’ll remember that more than the toy they play with for a month.

I've only shopped for myself so far. Paid an online interior decorator to design my living room, bought all the stuff and it's slowing coming in. It almost looks like an adult lives here and not some bachelor bad house.

People I'm buying for
-Mom
-Dad
-Grandpa
-Dog
What they will get:
Warm clothes for lounging around the house since that's all the do. Sadie gets all the treats and toys.

We don't really do christmas around our house, but we have a tradition of cooking a fancy breakfast and having mimosas that day. No gifts are exchanged.

Charlie Brown would be proud that you get the meaning of Christmas.

It really has been bliss since we cut it out of our lives. The stress level around this time of year has been dramatically reduced.

I enjoy thanksgiving a lot more now that we ditched turkey and started grilling steak
It's almost like it's family and friends that matter.

If I had kids not sure what I'd do for the holidays. Not having kids I passively avoid it personally but donate where I can. Likely just having a holiday meal with the roommate that'll be effectively Thanksgiving Round 2, New Blood and I can't wait.

Got my dad and I tickets to see Ichiro Suzuki's induction into the Mariners hall of fame next year.

Not sure what my mom and brother want. We are pretty low-key, most of our traditions also involve food. My sister in law will be out of town with her family and my dad is still moving into his new place, so it'll be a little hectic. It's fine. At least we can all see each other stress-free this year.

I got my wife a stuffed animal thing that you can stick in the microwave for a bit pre-bedtime so that it stays warm.

Otherwise she's handling all the kid present business, organizing between grandparents and such.

everyone has late birthdays so I am sick of shopping. Gonna cheap out on christmaka this year. Probably one nice present for each of the kiddos.

Just bought my wife an expensive watch so her present will probably be a few min of disappointing intercourse. The flipside is that disappointing intercourse is precisely what I want for Christmas.

My ex had one of those...I don't recall if it was an animal or just a stuffed pillow. It got STUPID hot, like past "easing into a hot tub"/uncomfortable hot and into "holy @#$% this hurts" hot. Be careful with nuking it too long!

A force feedback racing wheel to replace my old Logitech Momo. And the the most recent F1 console game.

I've only used my old wheel for emulated 90's arcade games (eg. Virtua Racing, Spyhunter, Hard Drivin, Roadblasters, etc.)

This will be my first console racing game.

Wife and I decided we aren't going to get Christmas gifts for each other this year and instead buy something for the house. We've been thinking about a new bed frame or bigger kitchen table.
I guess we should have decided this months ago as everything we like is out of stock and won't be available for months.

I've come close-ish to getting a video game racing setup again. Many years ago I had a wheel + Gran Turismo (I forget which version...PS3 would be my guess) and LOVED it.

But it was a couple month love affair only.

So I'm reticent to spend the money on getting that sort of thing all set up again...I don't have a console so it would be PC only (which is probably fine, I'm sure I could get great driving games) and I have the space (and time) to get something cool. However I can easily see it being great for a while then just collecting dust.

I just spoon my gf. That warms her up to the point Im pushed away.
Mission accomplished. I get to sleep on my side without choking on hair.

I got my gf a makeup vanity. Already at home. She loved it. She got me an apple watch. The geek in me is excited.

Kids are the real winners this year.

Son - Losi LMT
Daughter - Super HUGE bean bag chair
Oldest - eVGA 3060ti

For me, I wanted a matching curved 32" MSI monitor. Picked up on BF special, wrapped it, and told my wife her shopping for me was done!

I will buy myself golf stuff, but we've all said we're not doing gifts among the adults/parents in our families. Donating to a cause in someone's name is OK, so we'll probably do a bit of that.
