That's right, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are in that weird overlap zone of studio rights ( I don't understand how it happened either) but they get to be characters who are 'children of Magneto' in X-Men Days of Future Past

but on the Marvel Studios side, they ALSO get to be characters but CANT be portrayed as mutants or Magneto's kids since all mutant and Magneto related stuff belong to FOX.

What a headache.

Also if any of you start a ****ing Marvel vs. DC thing in the comments, I'll just ban you. In our research, we found DC to be just as musically awkward as Marvel, just in a different way. This is an industry-wide problem.***65279;

Actually, that video was pretty cool. I shared it with my little brother's dad who is a film composer.

I've honestly been trying to nail down exactly why these Marvel movies in particular have never really hooked me in the way many franchise films have in the past. This video might have solved that question for me.

It did stump me. I hummed Star Wars and Bond themes in my head. Then they asked about marvel and my brain farted like everyone in the video. Never really thought about how important a score is.

I could hear the stuff from the captain America ones in my head but I couldn't hum it without hearing it audibly.

That's exactly where my mind went. I paused the video just to give myself a shot at it. Kind of heard Captain America in my head but could not spew it from my dumb face. And I've seen all 3 of those movies multiple times.

I think that's what made Guardians of the Galaxy so awesome. Their use of music was amazing, especially during the opening scenes. In my opinion it set the mood and put you in a great state of mind for the movie.

And that's exactly where my brain went. Right to Guardians. It's the only one of these Marvel movies I've ever purchased let alone watched more than twice.

I think you two are talking about the same thing but I'm not sure. Are you suggesting you remember the soundtracks? The video is talking about scores.

It's talking about MCU movies that mostly have forgettable scores/music/whatever. The only memorable music from any of the movies are use of popular songs like Sabbath, AC/DC, and then the motown/pop music that showed up in Guardians.

Right. I get that. Still if AC/DC's Shoot To Thrill came on the radio I wouldn't immediately think of Tony Stark.

Not Marvel related but one of the more recent scores that was really good and enhanced the film while being wholly unique was Interstellar.

I loved Interstellar's score. I just hated that it was set to 11 and completely drowned out the dialogue. Intentionally or not it was annoying as ****.

In the special features, they had a part about the music and it showed them playing the old, giant pipe organ and pulling out all the stops. It was really quite impressive.

Edit-

Yes, the point of the video was about the score, not the soundtrack, but with the sountrack of Guardians being as integrated with the film as it was, it's a fuzzy line between the two. The soundtrack of that movie is instantly more memorable than the score of the rest of the Marvel movies combined.

It's not unusual for a soundtrack to overshadow the score of a film and make it memorable. See: Maximum Overdrive, or Dazed and Confused.

I completely get what you're saying. For me I don't identify the music in those soundtracks with the movie after viewing them though. If I was, and I am, aware of AC/DC's shoot to thrill before Avengers comes out I don't then associate it in my head with the movie afterwards. That's all.

Yeah, not an original score, but I recall the songs played (the known ones) but all in all, yeah, there's no memorable music at all that I think of the movie if I hear it.

All I'm saying is that Blue Swede's version of Hooked on a Feeling will probably always remind my of GotG from here on out.
