Default Mod Friendly dealer

I was wondering if anyone knew how Mod friendly Mastro Subaru on Hillsborough was? Does anyone have any experience with taking their car for normal service and/or warranty items it this specific dealership?

Last time I was there, Manny from service told me to NOT void your warranty, don't put any parts that will affect AFR such as intake, downpipe, injectors, etc.

A cat-back exhaust is fine, as for different suspension, I am not sure. You can call the service department and ask for Manny and he will tell you.

I already have a house and an RS. It's neat. "Finished," is a loosely defined term, here. If you're asking if it's operational, yes, it's been driveable for well over 2 years. If you're asking if it's where I want it to be, the answer is, and probably always will be, "No."

Sounds like something you can call and ask them. Or, ya know, don't mod your car if the warranty is important to you.

"Finished" as in complete to where no additional work is required as in completed interior and exterior if that helps to clarify

From what Manny told me at Mastro, you can mod your car WITHOUT affecting warranty as long as you don't put on parts that require a tune.

As for suspension mods or driveshafts or example changing out your diff cover, stuff like that, I honestly do not know if it will affect it or not.

If you ever watched the show House, Drews is almost the equivalent version of Dr. House

Well then, no, because it will never be done. But, I can drive it whenever I want and it's reliable, albeit uncomfortable.

Hey fellas,

Having a few issues with the WRX that my husband “took over” and hasn’t been maintaining it like he should

So when I drive at high speeds the steering wheel shakes terribly and the car feels like it’s all over the road.
- I was thinking the alignment could be off since all leg nuts are tight. But I didn’t think not having it aligned would make the drivability be so bad.

A few days ago I heard clunking noises coming from the front passenger Bilstein suspension but it has since gone away. The setup has less than 8k miles on them.
- What could this be?

Also at high speeds, when hitting a bump on the highway (crossing over bridges) I hear this huge loud bang, almost sounds like metal hitting metal?
-my husband hit a garbage can on the highway and damaged my front end. So the lip and bumper are cracked. I’m hoping it’s the lip and bumper smacking together or hitting the ground versus a suspension issue.

Thoughts please?

I don’t feel safe putting my 1.5 yr old daughter in this car....

I think the piece to the front bumper is an OEM front cover and rallysportdirect sells the right and left separately

As for your suspension, someone might be able to chime in, if not then take it to someone who specializes in subarus in your area or a performance shop

Probably not an alignment, and all signs point to ball joints or tie rods. Probably both to be honest. It's hard to tell exactly what it would be without driving it, but that's where I'd start. Everything you're experiencing could point to ball joints.

Also, tell him to stop running stuff over.

Cool New 2018 STi owner

Hey guys, I just purchased a new STi last week from Mastro and the freakin thing is already in the shop getting warranty repair work done (Body Integrated Unit)...left turn signal wouldn't turn off. Needless to say I'm pretty pissed that its been sitting waiting for parts longer than I've had possession of it. Mods so far are just exterior

Rally Armour Flaps
Matte Black trunk badges
Matte black side badge
Matte black lower fender vinyl overlays
18% Carbon tint all around with 70% on the windshield
Custom reverse section of the tail light smoked out by the tint guys
OEM front lip. (Whenever that gets in stock at Mastro)

I'm really debating on starting the engine mods so early on or just waiting...regardless I love love love this car and can't wait to meet some of the good folks in the community and build this car. Feel free to give me any advice you can on future mods and such as this is my first subie stateside (2003 WRX wagon in Okinawa, Japan). Thanks again in advance!

I’m in need of OEM tophats for my 14 WRX. Does anyone have any laying around?
My front Bilstein struts are shot but rears are fine and I would prefer a simple task.

Was in Toronto for a week and a half for work. Had nothing to do Saturday, so I took the train downtown.

Walked out of union station, saw a couple of volvos parked on a carpet on the sidewalk. Clearly a car show. Rushed inside, saw this.

Default Best alignment shop in Clearwater/Tampa/St Pete for 2017 Outback

I live in Clearwater and just got back from a ski trip to Colorado in our first Subaru and when we got home the rear tires were totally bald even though we rotated them in Colorado and the fronts which were the rears on the way to Colorado did not show any excessive wear. We were loaded the same both directions and just had suit cases in the back and a ski box full of ski gear on top. It appears from researching the forums that these are undersprung in the back and the alignment can go way out during road trips.

I have new tires on the way but want to take it somewhere that can do a really good alignment and I'm going to put 80lbs of weight in the back to hopefully simulate some suit cases. Who do you recommend in the area?

Also, any suggestions for stiffer springs or other suspension components to help for road trips? The consensus on the Subaru Outback forum was that this is not designed for family road trips (two people and their gear is fine) and that we should get a bigger/beefier car. We'll take a bath on it if we sell it now since it's 9 months old but it sounds like it's not the right car for us even though we were just using it like Subaru markets it (loaded up with bikes, kayaks, ski boxes, etc). Hopefully some better tires and a good alignment with weight in it will give us better results.

Thanks!

Red contact Wrenchmasters LLC. They are in Pinellas Park, but I don't let anyone else touch my car unless it's beyond their scope. (Ex: recent dyno tune up at Rev Works)

The owner is a Subaru Enthusiast as well owning 3 previously.
