Talked to dealership and got the run down. There is no TSB yet. They are working with their rep and Subaru for a fix . They are getting the parts from Subaru to fix the issue . From what I was told there will be a TSB. If you live near this dealership they can get the parts to fix it.

Thanks everyone for all of this info.
I'll be watching for this to show up NHSTA and I'll be making another appointment for service in the next couple of weeks, when I get the chance. I'm glad there has finally been some progress on this and there's finally a TSB we can point to, if they give us trouble. |

I have a 2019 WRX and just turned over 10k. I first noticed the vibration not in the shifter but the dash rattling a little only on acceleration. But then after reading this thread I took notice in fact the vibration was coming from the gear box. I will most likely get this fixed if there is a TSB out. I've been running a MAP tune Stage 1 93 since new. I kind of dread to bring things back to stock just to have them replace the shifter fork which has noting to do with engine management.

Good to hear, let us know how it goes after the service. Also where did you download the TSB from? It's not on any of the websites such as NHTSA yet.

I downloaded the TSB from techinfo.subaru.com. It required a paid 3 day membership but I wanted to D/L the service manual too. I’ll see if I can post it once I get back to my computer.

Here's the link to the "Manufacturing Communications" section. The date for the TSB is 2/21/2020.
https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2019/S...Communications Here's the link to the pdf. I don't know if it will work, but here it is just in case. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...71926-0001.pdf |

Update on the shift fork replacement
So quick update on the status of my repair. My car has officially been at the dealership for 3 full weeks. They wouldn’t return my calls for several days trying to get an update so I was getting ready to leave and go down there when they finally called me back. They tried to blame COVID for it taking so long. When it came to the details they actually didn’t order the new sleeve that matches the new shift fork. It specifically mentions the sleeve also needing to be replaced in the TSB. That part is supposed to arrive next week. So the earliest I can get my car back is after 4 weeks but 5 seems more realistic considering. Five weeks for this repair is outrageous and I certainly will not be returning to this dealer.

Sorry to hear. Yes, COVID-19 has put a wrinkle in a lot of things. There is nothing wrong with your dealer/service department taking steps to steps to keep their staff safe/healthy; but there is no excuse for them not ordering all of the parts needed for the repair. Not sure if it was laziness or lack of reading. Unfortunate timing none-the-less... So, what if you feel these vibrations, like I do, under acceleration in 4th gear getting up to freeway speeds and decide NOT to follow through with the TSB repair? I experience the condition everyday getting on to I-75 on the long sweeping on/entrance-ramps. Will I cause damage to the transmission by NOT having the 3-4 fork swapped? What are the long-term ramifications, if any, for not taking my car in on this optional TSB? I can ask my local dealer if they have heard of the TSB and if they have done any since its release. The WRX seems to be a good seller at their location, so I'm pretty sure they have sold a healthy amount of cars that fall under this TSB. |

Sorry guys, I forgot about this thread,
Looks like you are getting help. I actually had other issues with the transmission that also has gotten resolved. I had bearing noise 2 weeks after the fork replacement. A chunk got worn off or ripped my input shaft. The dealer could not find any metal in the transmission or any evidence of abuse. They replaced the shaft, bearings and seals. The shafts were on back order so it may have been a bad run of shafts. the tech said he had never seen anything like that before in his career. HE showed me the shaft. Im going to say if you have left you shifter stock you will be ok for the 4th gear problem. The dealers wont like weighted shift knobs or cobb plates. That one thing they asked me was how I handled the shifter. If I Rested my hand on it or not. But with 10k kms I don't think that would matter. What helped me was they had a new manual WRX on the lot and they took it for a drive for comparison, |

What will happen if you decide not to have the vibration issue fix? Will it cause long term damage? They have to take the entire tranny out to fix it. Im worried they might not put it back correctly.

I have an appointment with my dealer later in the month about this issue. My 2017 does this consistently between 2,400-3,200 RPM in 4th gear. I do have the Perrin shift-stop, so I will be removing that before I go. My dealer is pretty good so I don't think they'd give me any trouble. They replaced my throw-out bearing under TSB/warranty early this year.

Had this done last week along with the TOB (18 wrx), I can't believe how much better it feels.

I finally had this fixed back in August, but within the last week or so, it has started to make noise again. At this point it’s not consistent, so I’m sure they won’t be able to replicate it. This time it’s not quite as loud as it was before, but I think that’s how it started the first time. Right now my car has a little less than 12,000 miles and it was fixed less than 3000 miles ago. Has anyone else had this fixed, only for it to come back again? I’m going to keep watching it and if it gets worse or more consistent, I guess I’ll take it back in again. Ugh!

I got my car back from the dealer yesterday after they addressed this issue. They performed the fix in the TSB. It's the second time I've used this dealer for warranty/TSB work (first time was the throw-out bearing issue last February). Great dealer to work with. Nothing but good things to say about them. The tranny is as smooth as butter now with no vibes.

Which dealer, and where are they located?
I'm in NJ, more or less in the Greater Philadelphia region. Norm |
