The STi is a WRX ?
Listen guys.
There seems to be a problem here that someone relays some facts and YOU take it as criticism or as "arrogance". I'm sorry but technically speaking a WRX has no more in common with the STi than it does with an RS -- they are different cars. That is not to say one is better than the other -they are created for different markets- but just to reinforce the argument that postings about WRX's, RS's/TS's will be, as someone else put it, "noise" to STi owners looking for relevant info. A far better way to organize here would be to give each car series a master forum, and sub forums below when significant MY changes happen. The ONLY reason the STi is listed as a model designation, instead of a completely different car, is 1) to help with/lower new car insurance ratings; and 2) to minimize or eliminate the need for crash testing every single iteration of a car. This is a VERY expensive procedure for the manufacturer to go through. As for the comments made in response to my previous post: Quote:
followed YOUR train of thought I'd tell you to do US STi owners a favour and BUY an STi. Then maybe you'd understand what we are all talking about.... Oh - and BTW, I'm thinking about getting a white w/gold one now. I like the look more. I'll track-convert my Blue one then. It'll be faster than my GTX track car anyways, and therefore much more fun. JewPac42. I'll respond to your comments here: 1) an STi is NOT a WRX for technical purposes. I'm sorry, but it isn't. If you don't know that you haven't been under the hood of one, and haven't been taking in most of what's been written here Totally different engine, transmission, suspension, plus the bodyshell is reinforced and lightened in other areas. This isn't a new thing. Alot of VW's share platforms with Audis, but the comparisons stop there. 2) It isn't arrogance, it's just technical fact. My point was that we don't all drive RS's either, like the moderators appear to. I was expecting people to read between the lines- guess I over expected of some people, though. 3) How old am I? 35. Thanks for asking. Oh- and I'm an accountant that owns two businesses. I also bought my car with cash too, in case that was your next question. Maybe the moderators are 16-17. That could be the problem. It would explain why they think people have the time to wade through hundreds of useless irrelevant posts to get to the STis ones.... 4) I'll go where the STi information is. If things are done right here then great -STi people will stay. if they aren't, STi people will leave. Then YOU will have to come looking for us to listen in on our STi discussions. -Sporty

You can call it whatever you want, but the official model designation is Impreza WRX STi. The WRX is an Impreza WRX. The RS is an Impreza RS. The L is an Impreza L. The TS is an Impreza TS, and so forth. Sorry to poo in your Cheerios, but you can call it an orange scarlet wombat goose throated warbler if you want, but it's still an Impreza WRX STi .
