I find it very funny.

You know, I get way more positive feedback driving the STi than any of the other cars I drive, including the M3. For some reason, people have no problem commenting on the STi. Maybe they think BMW drivers are ALL a bunch of snobs, or they think chances are the guy driving the M3 is a tool.

Btw, passed 1000 miles today

Probably the same sort of people who stopped and took pictures of my car when I was parked at a restaurant the first week I got it.

There are always exceptions. We could rank order the snobbery by make. Actually, make and model would be required (e.g., Porsche 911 and 914 would be quite different).

this reminds me of the time a group of kids were running after me in the local dennys parking lot snapping pics...i told them if they wanted pics they could have asked. i guess they were having a car club meeting and they saw me pull up and they all got excited. i felt cool.

Yup, I was by a window in the restaurant and had a clear view of the STi. I was a little apprehensive about it as it was only a few days old. This newer Camry pulled parked right behind my car. The driver got out and started snapping pics. Then he got back in the car and drove off.

Wow. Well I guess there are worse things that he could have done......so, no big deal. I know first hand that this car generates a lot of attention, but that one takes the cake.

I'm guilty of doing the exact same thing back in May when they first hit the streets in my area. I'd taken a series of pics of a black STi parked in my neighborhood (a visitor) to send to my car buddies.

I've had a couple of "unexplainable" scratches turn up on my car, as well as someone tried to take the STi badges. This is just from leaving the car in various parking lots.

Along those same lines.....Last night (Saturday) after leaving my girlfriends about 10:30 p.m. I thought I would go over to the local cruising stripand see what kind of cars were out. I have a basically stock white STi. This road is four lanes in each direction. Traffic was light to moderate and I was getting alot of attention. Anyway, a couple of young guys in a slammed out chevy S10 pick up truck come up along my drivers side. The passenger of the truck was hanging out the window looking at my car . They were both looking over when I noticed the guy in front of them had stopped. I started to point and yell when they hit this guy dead on at about 40-45 mph. Never braked or even saw the guy. I went back around and everybody was ok other than the truck was undrivable. I was really bummed. Never expected that kind of attention!!
