Thumbs up So excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to start a positive thread, instead of "Can you afford this, can you afford that, should I buy a Honda, you're all going to crash and die with this car, my dealer knows nothing"......ect.......

Anyways, I am so psych to get the STi. I can't wait to feel the pull of 300 hp, 300 ft/lbs, awesome tires, huge scoop, big brakes, awesome suspension, new style headlights, picking my own stereo and speakers, driving around town having the only STi, and most of all tromping around the track and autox.

My feelings won't be hurt if no one responds to this thread but I hope other people are actually psyched about getting their STi too. I am sure it'll live up to everything we think and more. I loved my RS, I loved my WRX and very, very soon I will be loving my STi....Silver on Silver......

Nice idea for a thread... we tend to get cranky at times with no new info for a while now and still 3-4 months to wait.

Mmmmm... STi.... aaaaarrrrggghhhh (drool)

I can't wait for the torturous break-in period.

I can't wait to put a stereo in.

I can't wait to adjust the drivers seat.

I can't wait to debadge.

I can't wait to wash and wax.

I can't wait for the first passenger after break-in to brace for her life.

I can't wait for 2x the hp, 2x the torque, and 2x the drive wheels that I currently have, at the same weight.

I can't wait to see STi's and Evo's on the street.

I can't wait to see the first thread about a 2.5T into WRX wagon swap.

Actually, even though I'm not getting an STi, I'm excited about the car because of what it represents regarding Subaru's view of the North American market.

As you old-schoolers know, there was a time when there wasn't even the RS, even though the rest of the world had high-powered Scoobies to play with. We got the RS, which looked like the WRX, but was about 110hp down on the real thing, and people loved that little car.

Then came the WRX, to demonstrate to Subaru that yes, the USDM does want and like their hi-po offerings, and that in this country, Subaru isn't just for snow-loving, Birkenstock-wearing New Englanders, which was the car's previous reputation.

The STi represents a fabulous new mode of thinking that weights this market the way that it should be, I think, and will result in a complete line of cars. The traditional Subaru folks will still be able to buy their base Legacy wagons, while the performance devotees will be able to choose from the complete range of STi flavors, Impreza, Legacy or Forester.

This is a very nice thread, btw. People here are so fond of nitpicking, and worrying about things before they have ever seen the car, with seats, and brakes, and twin-scrolls and suspensions and steering response and expensive parts and all of the other things that people in this thread have felt compelled to cavil about regarding the STi.

But the fact remains that this is a very exciting car, and its owners should be proud, and thrilled. I've had my WRX wagon for two years now, and it still thrills me to drive it. I can only imagine it with Brembos, another 75hp and all the other STi goodies.

Yes, lots of excitement! I'm surprised that I've got my wife into the whole car thing....When my father-in-law mentioned "it looks just like the car you have. Why would you want another one?" Well, before I could answer she started spouting off about the 6-speed, 2.5L turbo, high-tech center differential, big brakes, etc. Almost two years with a modded WRX wagon and she has actually been listening to me! Of course, it just bewildered my father-in-law..."you need a bigger car."
(we have two kids)
Like your new TrailBlazer EXT or the quad-cab pickup you want to get when you retire next year?

I am also extremely excited about the STi! Unfortunately I am about the 5th or 6th on the list at my local dealer! I hope this doesn't mean I will be waiting all summer for it! The suspense would be torture!

I can't wait to get the car and put it on the track.. I actually have some track time scheduled at Road Atlanta in June and I am really, really hoping I luck out and get it before then! Otherwise I am going to have to rent something.

Later,

Enrique

I'll be excited just to behold such a beautiful piece of machinery. And if I'm lucky maybe someone will give me a ride in theirs!

I'm staying with my L for awhile...but I'm still excited about the STi

Hey Steve,

I am so jealous you are getting an Sti. You better take me for a ride in it at an auto-x. As if you weren't fast enough.

Pete,

I will definately give you a ride, going through the break in period will be the worst. I'll bring it by Devens and Otis (Boston) as soon as I get it to have everyone take a look at it (even if I can't run it). I figured this....the handling of my RS with the P1 suspension was great and the power of the WRX was great, so mix them together with even more power, brakes, and everything else and I thought I couldn't go wrong. How's the grocery getter running?

The grocery getter's doing well. It definitely needs a little TLC, which I haven't been able to give her lately. Remember, if you get rid of any parts on your car, I get first dibs.
