Default 2013 WRX with 112k Miles

Hi Guys! New here! I recently purchased a 2013 WRX from my brother-in-law who kept the car in great shape, and has done regular maintenance intervals. It's bone stock and I want to try and keep the car as long as I can.

I've been reading that an Air Oil Separator is a must for these vehicles. Should I get one considering the high mileage that this car has already? Will it still benefit from it for future use? Thanks!

While an AOS has it's purpose in certain conditions, not needed on a stock car.

Don't fall into the hype that every Subaru needs one. Not true.

Many people fall into the hype, buy one, and then falsely claim everyone has to have one since they bought one and that makes them feel better that they bought one.

There are lots of AOS threads. Everyone has their opinion.

I would focus more on regular oil changes and healthy oil levels than an AOS.

Thanks for the quick response. And yes, I do check the oil level every fill up. I just don't understand why Subaru uses a black dip stick.

Your car lasted 112,000 miles without a separator. If it’s needed, the damage is done. If it’s not needed, your engine is fine and adding one won’t do anything.

Neither possibility suggests that you should install one now.
