Koreans are always willing to try something new so I wouldn't be surprised. Unfortunately their new Sonata looks pretty fugly although that auto park feature is kind of cool.. well, until you find dings and scratches all over your brand new car for parking in a tight spot next to a SUV..

> IMO On topic: I think the koreans usually put out incrementally better designs than before, so I'm excited to see. I love the genesis stylings (although the grill is getting kinda... lexus-y as far as proportions go for my taste on some of their models). Last edited by BeepBoop; 04-29-2020 at 01:07 PM. |

Yeah, I like the Civic hatch, but the Civic sedan looks too long. The Hyundais look even longer. I think Hyundai's best look is this. If our 2021 Elantra GT looks like this I'm buying it. I really hope the hatch doesn't get the ugly treatment of the sedan: |

It can't be easy designing cars and SUV's in this day and age. There really aren't a lot of sexy looking vehicles these days outside of exotics. So much copycat styles and generic shapes brought on by companies making their vehicles bigger and bigger to appease Americans. The current trend of companies trying to out-grille each other isn't helping.
In regards to a radical shift in design I'm all for manufacturers trying new things but it's debatable if it will generate better sales. Mazda last generation with the 3 made a pretty big shift as they are stylish and stand out but it really hasn't paid off in sales as the masses still flock to the horrific looking Civic instead. It's why working for Honda or Toyota design studios would be the best for job security as it doesn't matter how ugly Civics, Corollas, Camry's etc look as they still sell on their 1990's reputation of reliability. |

In the article picture, there are some pretty ugly design models, but the red one shows a lot of promise.
